<p>Stanford’s “suburban” status is a non-issue. Most students prefer to revolve their social lives around the (self-contained) campus itself. Occasionally, some students will venture into Berkeley or San Francisco if they seek the variety of an urban setting. </p>
<p>One inherent problem (besides space and safety concerns) with some of the more “urban” campuses is that the centrality of the students’ social experience can shift to the surrounding city instead of the campus where it ideally should be.</p>
