Decisions threads are really helpful, why is there none on this forum?

How competitive are engineering scholarships, which are awarded to “outstanding applicants to the engineeering division”? What would be the typical or an example of one such applicant to recieve an engineering scholarship around half/full tuition? Rice applicants are already so good, how can they have merit scholarships like these?

^thank you. Acccepted applicants are top notch really, and can get into plently of the top 10 schools. Which brings me to the question, what kind of applicant would be outstanding enough to receive merit scholarships from the engineering division?

Engineering Scholarships - Outstanding applicants to the engineering division - $6,500 to Full tuition

I would fall into that category, so would that make me a student standout - with a decent chance for admission, and dare I say it, a merit scholarship?

as I say to all chance threads - if you apply, you have an infinitely better chance than if you dont. I dont know how they hand out scholarships.

If you are outstanding, you have a chance at getting in and getting a scholarship. So do apply and good luck!!

Just a little anecdotal info- I have yet to meet someone on an engineering scholarship, while I know several Century Scholars and people who received Trustee scholarships.

^Oh Antarius, can you PM me how much you got and your stats? Or on here too? Thanks! I’m still going to apply to Rice no matter what tho…I’m jw.
