Why USNA?

Hello all, sorry its taken me so long to find this thread!! Wheeler everything you have to say is right on…I have feeling though that perhaps ive been at the academy a year or two longer than you, so I wanna give an upperclass opinion on this subject if you dont mind. like wheeler said women at the academy all deserve the utmost respect (not to toot my own horn or anything). and there are still a LOT of problems at the academy as far as gender equality goes. however, if your female is strong enough to stand up for herself and not tolerate inappropriate behavior, then she will be fine. i do have to say however that it is when a female stands up for herself that the majority of the comments and harrassment start. as in, you come forward to report someone and then you are labeled a “guy hater” or several other words that are not proper for this site. But if you raised your daughter, as im sure you have, to stand up for is right, she will be fine and there are others like her here like wheeler and I that will be there to support her. Also, expanding on wheelers comment about the second class saying there are two kinds of women at the academy “b****** and hoes” it needs to be emphasized that not all sexual harrassment comes from the males. i would estimate that up to like 30% or sexual harrassing (is that word) comments come from females referring to other females. there is a HUGE issue of jealousy and competition here at the academy. some girls get angry if you try to hang out with the same group of guys they do. however not ALL females are like this. there are a few. just like in high school or at any other college, females can be mean…meaner than guys…all im saying is that stick to your guns, and dont let things slide because you are scared to **** people off. im not saying to cry wolf, but be a the strong female that I know you are if you are coming to this school…ok as far as wearing a uniform and still looking a pretty haha, if you came here to get a guy then you are barking up the wrong tree, but yes you can wear a uniform and still look feminine. my advice would be to stay away from the skirts though. i dont know why exactly but guys and some girls look down upon the skirt, mostly because plebes dont have to chop when they wear it so it looks like they are slacking off…ok next topic, dating a midshipman. i know that the alumni are going to tell people DONT DATE ANOTHER MIDSHIPMAN!! haah but the fact is about 80% of women that go to the academy end up marrying another mid. sorry guys but its the truth. i currently am dating a midshipman and we plan on getting engaged in the next couple of months. you will face several male midshipman that say “i will NEVER date a mid girl” and that dating one is called “slaying” or “going to the dark side”. dont let this bother you, but dont come here looking for a guy. if it happens, it happens. hehe ok this is long enough…i hope that helps!
