Why was Adderall taken off the market in Canada?

shrinkrap – i’m sorry, i very much over reacted with that post. i think i may have been tipsy at the time…lol

anyways, my point is that drugs are demonized and misunderstood. Being in the same category doesn’t make it the same thing, at all. at all. Take SSRI’s. There are dozens, all in the same category, yet each functions differently based on the neural make up and metabolism of an individual. You can’t give someone who thrives on lexapro prozac. It won’t work.

My main point here is my frustration with the demonization of drugs like adderall, ritalin, whatever. It’s not methamphetamine. It’s a CNS, like methamphetamine, but that’s all. People who continually bash the efficacy and tout the dangers of these drugs make those who take it feel like cop out drug addicts when that is not the case.

Mishiru: actually, stiumulants slow down the brains of ADHD people because their brains are wire differently. It’s not that their brains get sped up, and the brain overcompensates and that’s how it’s slowed down. It’s not “unnatural” like that. Or at least that’s my understanding.

Ritalin does not slow me down, because i am not ADHD. I am narcoleptic. It speeds me up. Because otherwise I will sleep all day.
