I had an alumna interview earlier today, and the alumna who interviewed me stated something interesting about how women’s colleges prepared her for real life. At women’s colleges, you have to actually search for the social life, which is much like one would experience in real life. After all, there won’t be fourteen parties and a bunch of guys waiting for one in the real world. =)

“why would they even have those anymore, totally useless”
Hmm…women’s colleges are totally useless? Which utopian paradise are you living in? I’d like to move there :)

Very good response wej.

To larn stuff and be smart
Aaand date smart girls and be openly queer

This is an older thread… but since it is still going… both my Ds liked the idea of going to a college where it was a lot less likely someone was going to throw up in the hall outside your dorm room on a Saturday night. They also found the focus on academics to be more serious at women’s colleges. There is a certain maturity to the atmosphere and student body attitudes at a women’s college that is lacking in a co-ed environment. Both of my Ds were accepted to women’s colleges; neither ended up attending them, but the advantages were clear to them.
