dstark, please don’t befriend my DH, I’d like to stay married.

Musicmom, lol.

I would retitle the house to a Trust, but not to either husband or wife.

I would also encourage my friend to go inpatient for a month at a really good psych hospital, e.g. McLeans in Belmont, MA or Austen Riggs. I do not believe that depression can not be treated. I am only mentioning local places that I am familiar with (by working there or taking courses there). There are other places, but none I have first hand experience with.

Do you know what sort of treatment he is getting? Is he just talking to a psychiatrist, or is he getting medication? Has he been checked out completely, blood tests, physical, hormone levels? Can you get this information from him, or does he just say he’s being treated? This seems like the first priority to me.

There is no reason he should put the house in his wife’s name. It should be in both their names. She is obviously getting ready for divorce.

dstark- is that 4 of how many friends that are separating?

I have more friends that are not separating.

You have five friends?

Just to follow up…

The psychiatrist said don’t sign.
My friend’s lawyer said don’t sign.

My friend signed over the house today.
