Will applying early decision help with my chances

You mention your pre-med interest but before marking it on your application, check to see what kind of grades you are getting in math and science. Are you getting As in Math/Science but not doing so well in English/History or are all of your grades B+/B and lower? If so, apply undeclared instead of as a pre-med track student. If you apply with pre-med or the sciences in mind, but your actual science/math background is weak, that is going to make Pitt very wary of accepting you.

Also- have you considered taking the ACT? You may do better on that than on the SAT.

I would also encourage you to visit the school, tour, talking to someone in admissions (or do an alumni interview in your town) and show your interest as heavily as possible (as the others have mentioned).

By the way, your dad being a doctor at a UPMC hospital has no weight on whether or not you will be accepted. The same goes for anyone with legacy- it’s not a factor in decisions.
