My $79 Prime paid handsomely for shipping of all the crap I bought last year incliluding the - hold on to your seat - cement mixer shipped to our house.
$119 is pushing my limit.

I’ve never had an Amazon Prime account. Very often Amazon has free shipping anyway. I love Amazon, but I won’t pay that price…just like I won’t pay a fee for a credit card (no matter HOW MANY frequent flier miles they offer me).

There is absolutely no way on this planet that I’m paying that much money for faster delivery (hey, I can get it delivered in two days to a locker next door to work, for free already) and a few movies that I wouldn’t have time to watch.

I’d pay the increase and I wouldn’t give it a second thought. Prime is a convenience that I’m happy to pay for and my husband, daughter and son all get the benefits too.

When I had to start paying the $70 sometthing it was kind of pushing it, I already considered not renewing-- but it was worth it then because I was buying all that nail polish! ;)

We will definitely have to prune down to one account if we keep it, which is really not convenient for me at all. Most of our amazon purchases these days are gifts for each other, if we share an account there will be no surprises anymore. Not fun. >:(

Actually, Emaheevul07, the only one whose surprises will be spoiled is the one who’s the primary on that account. We have Prime in my DH’s name, so he gets all the notifications of purchases, mailings, etc. I don’t get them at all.

There are a few things that we buy that are available significantly cheaper on Amazon, are not available locally. So I think we’ll probably continue to pay the price. We’ll see.

I don’t see what my family members are buying. Packages arrive for them from time to time, but they don’t show up on my account. They each have their own Amazon accounts but use the free shipping associated with my Prime.

You can sign up other family members to use your Prime membership but they still order with their own Amazon account and own credit card. I vaguely recall something about making sure they knew my date of birth, since there was a challenge question as part of the sign up (my kids often forgot the correct year…which was fine as long as they made me younger.)

Right, but that poster said they had their OWN accounts. As chedva said, the communication goes to the primary on the account. Our account is in our DS’s name. He gets the notifications, though I can go on the account and read the communication, etc

No. I realized after the auto renew last time that they had raised it to $90 something ‘justified’ by their video account but if you already have video accounts for kids (netflix etc) I couldn’t possibly want to pay for more. (I dont use it.) I was pissed at that but just stopped being considerate about combining orders. If I want one thing, I order one thing. I will be watching the renewal this time and no way will I pay $119 for the ability to buy without shipping IF I order through an amazon prime eligible seller. That is a lot of shipping, and I could stand to buy less impulsively, anyhow.

When I order a package, I go into my order history a lot to do the tracking. I also usually get an email that says what I purchased. If fiance and I share an amazon account, we won’t be able to do that-- we will see each others gifts in the order history or the primary will always be getting the emails. I wasn’t aware you could share prime across multiple amazon accounts for free? I know my fiance shares his account with his mom and brother but I assumed he was just ordering things for them and getting reimbursed.

I am actually not sure what I will do if all the communication goes to one person, we buy almost all our gifts to each other on amazon and I don’t want either one of our surprises being spoiled every time! Phooey. This might be why we just decide not to renew at all instead of just pruning to one account, this sucks.

You can still use amazon without amazon prime, you just have to pay for shipping OR have it sent to a ‘mailbox’ and pick it up OR buy more than $35 an order (I think that is the number that gives you free shipping on prime stuff anyhow). Prime makes me buy more than I otherwise would, and that isn’t always a good thing for me, although it is for them, which is why they originally started it, I am pretty sure.
