Williams versus Pomona

Yes, but Middlebury has won far more Division III national championships than Williams. Here’s the big difference–Williams is good to very good in almost all Division III sports (including wrestling, vollyball, rowing, and softball), which nets them lots of points in the Director’s Cup standings. Middlebury kicks ass in the big New England sports–ice hockey, lax, and skiing. Both schools are Div III leaders in cross country, and both are very good in soccer, field hockey, and swimming and diving. So it comes down to this–Williams finishes close to the top in nearly every sport, while Middlebury finishes at the top for a select number of sports.
