I’m pleased that so many others share my bias in this matter! You’re all invited to join my team at the World Poohsticks Championships in England in June… (what my boss thinks I’m doing: a site residency to assess performative authenticity within audience reproduction of narratives in historical British childrens literature) …
James James Morrison’s Mother
Hasn’t been heard of since.
King John said he was sorry,
So did the Queen and Prince.
King John (somebody told me)
Said to a man he knew:
“If people go down to the end of the town, well,
what can anyone do?”
Of course I like the Shepard drawings better, but I agree with many here that the Disney version of Pooh et al. was fairly faithful to Milne. I’m talking about the original movie, not everything they may have done with the characters since.
Poohsticks! My children still play Poohsticks, and their average age is 30.
The Disney Pooh looks more rounded, cherubic. There’s something less appealing about him than the original which appears more authentic. It’s his irregularities that makes him more life-like.
