Winter 2013 Transfer Thread

@mstudent27 - Is your counselor one of the people who has been out for a while?

@redsdave03 I’m not sure

I only ask because that COULD be a reason for the slow response. Yeah, I’d definitely think that you should have received a decision by now. You never know, though. For some people, it took 6 weeks. For others, it took 2 weeks. Like I said in a post earlier, it seems like a very arbitrary process. There’s no concrete math involved which says you’ll get your decision x weeks from the day the application was received. Hopefully you get an acceptance email soon, though!

Congrats romaOnCC!

Remember to sign up for the first orientation date whenever it pops up! CC meeting lol.

@d4wnzz LOL you will be here soon.
@mstudent27 when was your application COMPLETE though? Received and complete are two different statuses. It is 6 to 8 weeks after your application is complete. They received my application September 1st-2nd, but it wasn’t complete until the 13th.

@romaOnCC: Did you mean that student can get analysis from admission about the application essay?

Congratulations to all of you who have been accepted! For those of you who choose to come to UM, I’m certain that 99% of you won’t regret your decision one bit, I know I haven’t. UM is a huge school that niche for almost every single type of person. A good way to make friends easily is to attend transfer events. It’s like a mini version of the first days of freshman year where everyone was looking to make friends.

For those of you who are still waiting, try your best not to stress. I know it seems like you’re the only person who still hasn’t received a decision but there are lots of people who haven’t yet either. Last year people got accepted into mid-November so there’s still time for you to get the good news. If you really want to go to UM, keep working hard this semester so in the event you don’t get the good news, you’ll set yourself up well for next semester. Best of luck to you guys.

@d4wnzz, I totally feel you right now. I remember in the two weeks before I got accepted, I was feeling really down about myself as well. I literally didn’t do anything for that whole two weeks except sit in PA Hall clicking refresh every 10 minutes. I’m exaggerating but you get the point. I sent some pretty embarrassing facebook messages, that I think are really stupid now, to my friends because of how I was feeling and now I’m getting a lot of s**t from them about it. You have a really similar situation as I did but you’re probably more accomplished than I was at the time. Chances are you’ll get in. Remember I didn’t get in until 10/25 myself. Just keep your head up and I know you’ll get the good news soon. Go Blue!

@Dreamingowl When I went to the admissions office to ask questions to one of the advisers I also asked her to look at my essay drafts.

@romanOnCC: Thanks! If I was fortunately accepted I would also visit U-M during Thanksgiving break. ----wait…Oh…the admission office might be closed at that time. Is it possible that I just call them and ask my admission details–no matter what the decision is?

@Dreamingowl Worth a try

@romaOnCC: Thanks very much! I got it. Have a good night!

WA is down for me right now. Probably because I’ve visited it too many times in the past 24 hours lol

@redsdave03 its down for me 2! hahaha maybe we broke WA by going on too much!

^ you guys. What were your stats/credits again?

@matisyahu For high school, I was in-state, 3.87 gpa, 27 act, ap’s, tons of volunteer, club president, nhs…Now I’m at Michigan State with a 3.6 GPA, tough course load, econ minor, and it’s my third time applying and my family has ties to the university…

@mstudent27 I think you will have 60 credits by the end of this semester you have a good chance of getting accepted.

Could I know comparing the campus size between U-M and UMS, which one is bigger?

You mean Michigan State?
