Winter Storm Cleon--

Well our Time Warner cable is still out in Dallas so we’ve been at the neighbors on and off for the last few days watching the football games. Our son is living in Bushwick New York and he just texted that it was starting to snow there as well

Apparently everything intensified in NJ when it wasn’t supposed to. I know because my knuckles are still white and my back is sore from tensing up after driving up the Parkway in near white-out conditions this afternoon.

DS is heading to Houston this week for work. He is THRILLED that we gave him merino base layer long underwear as a holiday gift and is looking forward to getting good use out of them.

Garland, glad you made it home safe, if sore.
I’ve been talking online all day with a friend down in Monmouth county…she was reporting the snow conditions a few hours before it went white out here in northern nj.
Just surprising.

Isn’t this storm Dion. Someone upstream quipped that the two storms should have been combined…and called Celine Dion! I love that!

Thanks, Musicmom! a couple glasses of wine, some pesto, some ice cream, and I am all recovered. Even taking into account the dreadful showing by the Giants–yikes.

Scary! Glad you made it home safe!

Drove from Phila suburbs to DC suburbs today. What is normally a 2 hr, 20 minute trip took 6:10. But we are here, in one piece, so that’s OK. They were expecting 1" of snow and ice later, and got 4-5" of snow in the western Phila suburbs in two hours.

I-95 was an ice rink til we got to Maryland, which is also the first place we saw significant snow plow crews.

Our yard has about an inch of snow with crust on top; we hear there will be more freezing rain tonight. I was glad we got home before the sleet and freezing rain. Snow I can handle, even in a Prius, though there were times today I wished we had taken the Outback. :)

There is nothing worse than driving in white-knuckle conditions. And it is true that it makes your whole body sore!

We seem to be getting more snow than predicted. I was out in it quite a bit today running errands. It is mostly fluffy and brushes right off the car. The plows are having a hard time keeping up with it, though, and the intersections and side streets are slippery. Hoping (but not optimistic) schools will be closed tomorrow if for no other reason than not wanting to argue with my daughter about which car to take. (She needs to get up several steep hills to get out of our neighborhood–my car is AWD, but hers is not).

Well we thought we were out of it in Texas…just as I was making fun of the schools for canceling for tomorrow DH asked if I thought there would be trash pick up. I decided to wheel the bin to the curb just in case. Two steps down the driveway I realized I was still moving downhill without walking. Managed to turn the bin into the flower bed to stop it. Surely I could walk in the flower bed… Two more steps and I was flat on my side. Did a bear crawl back up to the garage. Garbage bin can just sit there for the night…unless it drifts to the curb on its own.

^^^^^^dragonmom, I did the same thing last night (making fun of the schools). :o

I nearly bought it a couple of times the last few days, but managed to catch myself. Hope you’re not hurt.
