With the new acceptance rates, what is my chance?

You’re doing all of the right things. Only flag that immediately comes to mind is work on your GPA a bit. It’s not that it isn’t solid but that you want to have it as high as possible to give you the best shot.

Beyond that, have you taken on any leadership positions like captain of a sports team or editor of a school publication? How about your prowess in athletic and academic competitions? Those are the kind of intangibles a lot of top schools look for - evidence of your competitive streak (grit, determination, will to succeed) and your ability to lead others. All things being equal, those things tend to be important to admissions people.

The volunteering and the black belt is also really cool. It sounds like your head and your heart are in the right place. I know it’s stressful, but you’re doing a lot of the right things.

Good luck! And be sure to apply to a variety of schools - you WILL get in and you WILL go to college. ;)
