Women should comprise 50% of every military

What I meant was: should there be a draft, women should make up 50% of every military force.

Ah! Well, the draft is a mistake. Making anyone sign up against their will is against our country’s founding principles.

You understand that would go against the idea of free choice since the military is already able to meet its quota and there are enough people who want to join the military without forcing others to do so. Drafting women (or men) without need is a foolish idea.

Do you mean 50% of the current armed forces? If so, that is unwarranted as well as there are already enough people that wish to be in the military without drafting more. Making it mandatory that 50% of the military be women would require drafting those women and having more soldiers than is actually needed (at least according to our government…).

I agree that the draft is a mistake, but as I said, SHOULD THERE BE A DRAFT, women should comprise 50% of the military force.

I agree. If women don’t want to have to register for the draft, then they need to get rid of Title IX…

(which forces colleges to offer the same number and amount of sports scholarships to women as they do to men)

Ah yes…tisthetruth. In that case, I agree.

Quotas are stupid.

Uh…I think that if they have a draft now women should be included, but not for the purpose of quota-filling. Have them be in the draft, and let the true percentages let what they be. (which won’t be exactly 50-50)

Dumb idea. Women and men are just different. Built different-both physically and emotionally. Things should be kept the way they are right now-women can join the Army, but can’t have front-line combat roles. No infantry, no artillery, no armor. It may not be fair, but that’s the way life is.

I believe the term you’re looking for is “sexist”

Or “realist” perhaps…? Is anyone going to deny that women and men are different?

most women can’t kill a spider and you guys want them to pick up a gun and fight a war? sure thing.

i’m all for equality, but not when its for something that puts my potential life in danger.

also, note how women scream for equality, yet when the military issue comes up - its always the men that are like “where are all the women.” women could give a rats ass if they were in the military.

I agree. If women don’t want to have to register for the draft, then they need to get rid of Title IX…

Agreed. Whenever you want to shut a feminist up, just start talking about Selective Service.

And if they counter with that trite old line, “Women need to stay at the homefront and raise the children” then you can REALLY start to have some fun with them then.

“Whenever you want to shut a feminist up, just start talking about Selective Service.”

Lmao…for some reason this makes me think of the Equal Rights Amendment that never quite made it. ;)

I dont even understand why this is an issue…who wants to be in the military anyways

I agree (with the making women register for the draft part, not the quota system part) I see no moral distinction between gender discrimination and racial discrimination.

It isn’t gender discrimination. If you were in a war, who would you want covering you back? 90-pound Thelma who is afraid of bumblebees and likes Hillary Duff music or 200 pound Quincy who was captain of his high-school football team and can rip a man’s head off with his bare hands?

whoever can aim :)

but seriously, the whole point of having women register for the draft is so that i have LESS fo a chance of being drafted.

… and title IX is stupid.

Until the societal constraints that force women to be the main caretakers of children are eliminated, it’s unrealistic to expect them to register for the draft…
