I missed it? What happened? What happened?

Five hours and counting to the final - ESPN is setting up here at the restaurant that Abby’s brother co-owns, if it is not too crazy I will set up camp there…

GO USA!!!

Five hours and counting to the final - ESPN is setting up here at the restaurant that Abby’s brother co-owns, if it is not too crazy I will watch there…

GO USA!!! (sorry for the double post!!)

What’s going on? Is there some sort of soccer game today?

I will drink Asahi beer and eat sushi to celebrate if we win.
I will eat hot dog if we lose.

^^Not just some sort of soccer. It’s the World Foot-Hand-Head Ball Women Championship Game.

Scipio, I wonder. I just posted on my FB, “Why aren’t people excited about this?” No one is posting about it, etc. I guess us diehards will have to carry the day.

Thanks God we don’t have Women NFL.

That’s because they’re watching the British Open. ;)

The British Open happens every year. I wish ABC would show the WWC. Didn’t ABS show it 12 years ago?

^^True but the final round was on this morning and the good guy won!

I’m not sure if the main U.S. networks used to show the WWC or not. The CBC is showing it here even though the Canadian girls didn’t get to the final rounds but then Canadian networks, in general, do a far better job of showing sports than the major U.S. networks do. Hoping for a good game this afternoon.

Unfortunately, the US team is cast in the role of Goliath everywhere else in the world. The Japanese team are newcomers to the top level, and there is still a lot of sympathy for Japan over the earthquake and tsunami. Kinda like when New Orleans played in (and won) the Superbowl after Hurricane Katrina - tons of public support.

Well, it’s true Japan is a sentimental favorite – everywhere but here.

Go USA!

“That’s because they’re watching the British Open.”

Or one of those shows about paint…

Are we READY mates???

You’re right, Shrinkrap, a lot of people find golf boring but the same can be said of soccer. I think that’s one reason that it has never found huge popularity as a spectator sport in the U.S. I think professional soccer would like to have the solid fanbase that professional golf does in the U.S. I enjoy watching both. Having spent tens of thousands of hours at my Ds’ soccer games through the years, I love the game but have to admit that the youth games are usually far more exciting than the pros.

Right now on my ABC affiliate, it’s paid programming. Really?

“there is still a lot of sympathy for Japan over the earthquake and tsunami.”
Germany and Sweden did not care about it.
I never feel anything about it in the last couple weeks.
I only see the Japanese team has a small body but a great strength. The US has a great opponent today. Don’t listen to ESPN commentators.

Can’t believe it isn’t being broadcast on the major networks! Anyone have any news–any score yet?

Half time: 0-0

I dunno bout you but all my friends are raving about wwc <3 alex morgan and hope solo <3 plus british open ended already darren clarke swag
