<p>Tough loss. Total domination in the first half, yet nothing to show for it. Japan came back twice and were down against Sweden as well. I’m glad the Japanese have something to smile about after the year they’ve had.</p>

<p>But the US has to blame itself for failing to make adjustments, leaving a player in who seemed to wear Bozo the Clown shoes, and sending her to the final penalty kicks. Lloyd had no less than seven shots on goal and none were close. Who in her right mind would let her take the last free kick and send her to the penalty spot. That was nuts! </p>
<p>I feel bad for the girls, but you cannot survive such lack of composure in front of their goal and such clumliness in front of our own. We missed way too many chances and allowed a less than great opponent to take the WC home.</p>

<p>It’s easy to blame. France had several strong shots in the semifinal game but lost to the US.</p>
<p>Well, I can’t say we deserved it. I’m also glad that if someone else had to win, it was Japan.</p>
<p>Good for Japan. But the world still admires Rapinoe, Wambach, and Morgan for a long time.</p>
<p>And some people say soccer isn’t exciting. Great game. Great final.</p>
<p>And the Americans showed great class in the loss.</p>
<p>Harsh, yes, but xiggi’s right. So many opportunities squandered offensively and several breakdowns defensively. I don’t know whether the announcers were just trying to be nice, but i don’t feel like Japan “came back” as much as we laid down.</p>
<p>Still, an amazing showing for so many of the American girls. Alex Morgan will be a star for the future. And nothing could top for excitement the game against Brazil. Hard to keep emotional energy up.</p>
