The good news (from your perspective) is that the difference in opportunities between some schools is nowhere near as big as the difference in hype (and admissions difficulty). For instance, EE grads from Michigan Tech get paid about as much as EE grads from ND (#15 in the USNews rankings) and UCLA (#20 in the USNews rankings).
