Worst Ivy School

1st tier: HYP
2nd tier: Columbia, UPenn
3rd tier: Dartmouth, Cornell, and Brown

I’d say the 3rd tier are all pretty much equal, neither is much worse than any other. In fact, all 3 are amazing :)

What a dumb, dumb thread. This is like asking who the ugliest contestant in the Miss America pageant is.

ammarsfound, most Pakistanis I know (and I have known quite a few) would pick Cornell over most Ivies because of its Engineering programs.

why do so many people put dartmouth at the bottom, it def. beats every other ivy in terms of undergrad focus and attention, and i cant say im biased because i chose penn over dartmouth and still think that dartmouth is better for undergrad

I think many people just don’t understand Dartmouth. Its strength lies in its being a feeder into top jobs and grad programs. Also its undergrad grants/ advising are the highest among the Ivies. In my opinion its value is one of the strongest among the ivies, but when you see people (in my opinion) misguidedly choose schools on meaningless grad school major ranks you can see why a LACish school falls to the bottom. Their loss though, Dartmouth is one of the best college experiences in the country and in my opinion far more valuable than a Penn, Cornell, Brown, and Columbia education except in a few specific areas.

I think Harvard is overated, personally.
But they’re all good, I suppose…
but their fees are rocket high just because of prestige which i think is dumb

The cost to attend one of the Ivys isn’t really any different than any other private top 50 school and because they generally have more resources, in many cases, may actually end up being less costly to attend.

I know Penn is the only Ivy that the genius of 07 at my hs got rejected from, and it’s the one he wanted to attend most… I’d say Brown, students there seem really happy, though if you’re looking to be seriously overworked, maybe Cornell. I’m just bothered by Penn.

Dartmouth and Brown are the worst

I have to agree with Cornell. Dartmouth and Brown would be near the top if you were considering quality of education only (not prestige).

Which raises the question though, how did HYP get so famous in the first place? o_O

Because P is better than H and Y, but H and Y had better PR people until just recently. Its also because D, B, and UPenn were really not nearly as good as they are now before 1950.

Brown is also the land of tangerine trees and marmalade skies (not that there’s anything wrong with that)

This is seriously the stupidest question.

Cornell no doubt

Among Columbia, Brown, Dartmouth and U Penn

I would say Columbia is the hardest one to get in

Although U Penn has (overall) greater admission
rate than Dartmouth and Brown, it is more popular
and lot of kids want to go there

brown, I don’t know what ppl think about Brown these days
I just think it’s not what it was back in the days

Dartmouth is good but less selective than Columbia
and just too cold

Cornell has several colleges within it that are unique in the Ivy League but among the best in the country:Agriculture, Hotel Administration, Industrial and Labor Relations, Human Ecology.

Cornell’s Engineering college is the best in the Ivy League. Cornell’s Architecture program is arguably the best in the Ivy League.

That leaves Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences. The caliber of the students in Arts and Sciences is on par with Dartmouth.

If you dissect the College of Arts and Sciences you find that most of the departments within Arts and Sciences are among the top four in the Ivy League.

So, I would say that Cornell is actually quite unique among the Ivies, and, if anything, is among the top four Ivies department for department.

This has all been said before, but perhaps bears repeating.

This thread might as well be called “most ■■■■■■■■ genius”

lol, clever.

Not based on students attending, and by undergrad; worst to best:
Brown(if minimally motivated)
Penn
Harvard
Columbia(only here because I dislike NYC, probably between Yale and Dart)
Cornell
Yale
Dartmouth
Princeton
Brown(if very motivated)

Well as far as US News world report rankings, brown is ranked around 15. Thats the lowest IVY ranking

cornells f-ing awesome guys. what other ivy has ppl jumping off bridges to kill themselves?

The worst Ivy is the one you don’t get into.

Or, if you go to one, the worst Ivy is all the others.

But seriously…I’d say, personally, Columbia. No sports program of any note, Core would make me seriously consider suicide/dropping out/transferring, and NYC seems like too scary of a beast to jump into at 18 having never been in a city atmosphere comparable.
