NYU is pretty bad when it comes to the sciences and things like pre-med. Berkeley is obviously far superior for pre-med if we’re just talking about quality of program, but the competition and rigor makes things very difficult and you’ll have to work your butt off to do well. My pre-med friends who visited Berkeley said that the students they met were bitter about the work that they had to do and were told to go to UCSD if they wanted to do pre-med.

Don’t know too much about pre-law tracks, but NYU’s Law school is top tier. However, this might even make it more difficult to get into NYU Law and a good law school doesn’t mean a good pre-law program for undergrads. Definitely do some research on whether or not anything involving the law school is offered to undergrads, and whether or not it’s worth doing.

Also, the fact that you’re deciding between law school or med school at this point means that you probably have no real interest in either fields and are looking for prestige/money. Just go to the school you like more, because it’s very likely your “interests” will change.
