<p>Fargo, ND has been the starting point for several nephews’ career paths. Two brothers lived together and made serious incomes while managing large retail stores. One has since moved to Minneapolis, but the other has committed to staying in Fargo because he is making more money than all of his college peers.</p>
<p>Another nephew is moving to North Dakota for a very lucrative internship this summer…</p>
<p>I am in my 20s and moved somewhere very rural for a job. Not ND or SD or anywhere close but still rural US. Prior to that I lived in a huge east coast city. It was a big culture shock. There are many people in the area who moved here for jobs and some of the locals seem to resent that. Most of the people here are white americans and I do see the glares and stares they give others who do not fit in that profile when in public to levels I never saw living in a big city. Aside from that- there is very little to do in the area. Even shopping is VERY limited aside from the local walmart that is 20miles away. It does get very lonely and I can see why moving to middle of no where far from all of your family/friends to a rural area does not appeal to most.</p>
<p>My parents went there for work (Williston) in 1969 and had me! They moved 2 years later, not by choice-that’s how the oil industry is, you move around a lot… My mom is a true TEXAN Texan and loved her time in North Dakota. They still keep in touch with people from there…</p>
