Would you wear khakis to this party?

Helenback: do you have Target in your town? I recently bought black and dark gray pants there that are very nice and could be worn with a dressy jacket or top with your clogs. If you look around at Target you can find some amazing things that don’t look like they came from a lower-price store.

I would not wear clogs, but it depends on personal preferences. I bet if you do, you would not be the only one.

If you must wear Birkenstocks, then I would go with DougBetsy’s suggestion to wear some kind of medical device to broadcast that you are wearing them out of necessity! There is nothing to be done with those.

I don’t think of Birkenstocks as clogs, although they do make clogs. She has 4 days- she isn’t switching shoes at this point. Khakis are too casual. Chico’s has some cute things. I dress pretty young (Gap, Limited, JCrew) and have found some things at Chico’s. Yes, most of your fellow shoppers are 70.
Wear the clogs. Get a cute long skirt or flow-y dark pants. Cute top with jewelry. A couple of glasses of wine and you are fine!

Or just the wine!

I agree with the idea of a long skirt and tights with a cute top and jewelry. I just bought a few pair of tights because I’m “hearing” that nylons will mark me as an “old lady” in the workplace this winter LOL. So we know “tights” are “in.” after that, a skirt and top and jewelry and you are fine. J.Jill has some nice flowy long ones and they will ship as quickly as you want including overnight.
