wow, some people are spoiled

I wish lehigh would reduce it’s frat % on campus and balance out the male/female ratio.

but on this I support the school 100%.
[Lehigh University student got a C+ and now seeks $1.3 million in lawsuit - Yahoo! News](http://news.yahoo.com/lehigh-university-student-got-c-now-seeks-1-124956605.html)

I was just about to make a post about this! How ridiculous is this girl?! … I don’t know if I’d call her “spoiled” but she certainly is not ready for the real world. How pathetic some people can be. I am on Lehigh’s side 200% of the way.

“Spoiled” is a pretty good word. But I think “entitled” is better.

She was earning her graduate degree in the College of Education tuition-free. Before that, she went tuition-free to ANOTHER university because of her father’s connections as a Lehigh finance professor. And she has the gall to sue the university that essentially paid for her education…unbelievable.

Your education is your personal responsibility. You can blame your professors you can blame your TAs, you can blame your classmates, you can blame the tests or the assignments. But in the end, you have only yourself to blame for your grades and your academic accomplishments (or lack thereof).

This entitled woman represents what’s wrong with a good portion of today’s young people. Too many people in this country think they deserve free stuff.

Here’s hoping Lehigh’s lawyers are ready to fight against this. And for what it’s worth, I think her “finance professor” father should be fired, too.

Best,

She’s about to learn that losing (frivalous lawsuits) comes with the burden of paying the other side’s attorneys fees. Lehigh surely will harness a formidale team of lawyers against her.

Not her fault, well ok maybe it is. Beut anyways I blame the court system of this country are insane

Mike -

I would love to see her Lehigh professor dad fired just as much as you would! However, herein lies the (one of at least) problem with the tenure system. I’m sure he’ll be able to get out of any liability or responsibility - like father like… daughter.

I know people who would kill to be able to PAY for the education she received, let alone get it for free. She should be ashamed, but that would require some morals, wouldn’t it?

As a Lehigh grad, I hope Lehigh fights this one with everything they have!

You’re exactly right.

I was able to look this professor up - he’s been at Lehigh since 1982. So I’m sure he’ll hide behind his tenure, as you’ve suggested.

Just consider all the money Lehigh spent on his daughter’s education. And then think about how much money Lehigh will have to spend on legal fees defending the university from this outrageous lawsuit.

As far as I’m concerned, that’s money that could be going to financial aid or scholarships, now flushed down the toilet for this woman.

This stuff makes me sick. Such arrogance coming from someone who has been given such an amazing opportunity… And yes, being a professor for 31 years will make him virtually invincible.

It makes me think about med school though - there are certain class as a premed that are used to literally weed out those who can get into med school from those who can’t. With so many people failing those classes, you still never hear about them suing their teachers. So I hope the professor that gave her the C+ is proud for standing up for her decision.

an update, thankfully she is not getting anywhere so far

I remember that case. A ruling in the girl’s favor would have been a potential disaster for higher education. It’s bad enough professors have to worry about the occasional student making internal petitions. External oversight would be crippling. Students would ever know if they really earned their grades or if the professor was just running scared.

I hope she had to pay the school back for their legal fees. that would help stop lawsuit abuse.
