@mathmom 88k is the total 4 year cost with no loans. 27k a year COA. 5k a year merit scholarship. So 22k a year final. And the GPA requirement for the scholarship is only a 2.8.
@misbrom Sorry reading this while commuting. Looks like you will not have debt at URI? Re Post 18, I thought you were taking on a lot of debt.

My son is at URI finishing his freshman year and living in an engineering dorm. From what I’ve heard many of the kids who are engineering majors are choosing to live together next year. Either on or off campus. So hopefully they will continue to gain the benefits of the LLC after they move out. My son will be an RA in one of the engineering dorms next year. URI ended up being a good financial choice for our family even out of state.
I would definitely pick no debt over lots of debt for programs that are de facto equivalent.
I have a daughter, she didn’t apply to URI, but WPI threw money at her, so that’s where she went. She ended up transferring because her career plans changed, but she graduated college with very little debt.
