WUSTL Class of 2017 RD Discussion

They can accept waitlists earlier than May 1. its a numbers game. Also if you requested Financial Aid then its 2 numbers games. 1) do they have room and 2) do they have money.

Accepted

3.52 UW GPA
2200 SAT
Top 4%
No Hooks or URM, Im Asian/Indian

Showed NO interest whatsoever in terms of actual contact or interview or anything. I’m surprised I got in.

My son got in- 32 ACT superscore, 3.8 GPA (UW)- very passionate about community service. Visited the campus and met with a faculty member in the Classics Dept.

should I treat waitlist a positive thing? Does this mean that I somehow meet washu’s waitlist standards? Or do they waitlist everyone?

Decision: Rejected

Test scores: 2340 SAT, 34 ACT
GPA: 3.8 UW, 4.3 W
Interest: Applied to Moog (research fellowship, didn’t get it), visited through the Discovery Weekend last semester

Shocked and surprised, not sure how this happened. Will definitely try to appeal this.

waitlisted!
33 ACT/2030 SAT/800 MATH2/730 CHEM/4.1W

@bcp - I’m shocked as well…not sure how much an appeal is going to help, but unless you were arrested fairly recently, I literally have no idea what is up…

It just seems so random. Financial aid is probably a huge part of it.

@nirvana - I’m not exactly sure how many people they waitlist, but it seems like a lot of applicants. And you shouldn’t feel bad about being on it anyway. Reading other people’s scores and as I’ve said a million times it’s really unpredictable for WashU.

Waitlisted
2300 SAT, 3.7 UW GPA (10-11), 4.28 W GPA (10-11), 780 Math II, 750 Bio-M
Wash U wasnt very high on my list so I didn’t show any extra interest, didn’t apply for scholarships either. I was 90% sure I was going to be rejected, so I’m definitely happy with being waitlisted!

I was deferred from ED and got rejected regular.

Are there any people out there who applied to WashU ED and got deferred as well? Or there any who got deferred and were accepted RD? I kind of expected to get either a straight up acceptance or rejection, I doubt they would’ve dragged it on saying ā€œYou didn’t get in ED or RD, but there’s still a slight chanceā€¦ā€. Also, I needed financial aid…

Accepted to the Olin School of Business: 2340 SAT, 3.86 UW GPA (9-11), 4.28 W GPA (9-11), 800 Math II, 760 Chem
probrably not going due to costs…it costs 2X more than UCB
didn’t apply for financial aid…

how do you appeal a waitlist? has it ever worked?

Accepted to CAS
2310 SAT, 3.93 GPA, 800 Math II, 760 Physics.
Took like 13 AP exams, 5s on most, some 4s, couple 3s.
In IB program as well as higher level dual enrollment math (calc 2/3, diff eq, matrix theory)
Summer: Volunteered at hospital for 100+ hrs. Summer courses - engineering courses.
Essay: free writing style on why I like hiking - hopefully not cliche
National Merit Finalist, math honor society, various other small clubs.
Also I’m Asian, and +250,000K.

I don’t know how I got in, but I’m very fortunate.

This is totally random, but anyone else think that the little logo/picture thing on the top of the web browser tab thing (seen here: [Washington University Admissions](http://admissions.wustl.edu/Pages/default.aspx)) looks like a wrestler from the neck to the thighs wearing a green wrestling outfit and green armbands??

Confusing description, I know, and totally random, I know, but EVERY TIME I go on their website I think the same thing…

Wait listed … Honestly thought I was gonna get rejected hahah so I’m kinda happy…

2120 sat, 3.82 gpa, strong essay, no interest at all, strong ec’s and sat2s

@carbs2

haha… you cracked me up!

@coolpillow Haha thanks! Trying to lift people’s spirits a bit…

But seriously, it gets me every time…

Did anyone apply for the Danforth scholarship and not get in?

My son applied for Danforth (didn’t get it) but did get in.
