Yale Class of 2018 SCEA Discussion thread

Rejected. Expected it but I’m glad I had the opportunity to even consider myself competitive!

Wustl was on my son’s radar; a fine school which neither of us had thought of until the whole search process started and then were surprised by the hidden gem.

Daughter was accepted!! Best of luck to all.

Your chances are good almost everywhere else. Deferred means you had the stats to get in you just did not show them anything special enough to warrant admission before they even considered the other 25,000 that will apply. Brown, Dartmouth, Colgate, Penn, Amherst, Washington and Lee, Cornell. Deferred=you will get in somewhere good.

ACCEPTED!! as a recruited athlete. I was so nervous as I did not receive a likely letter. Best of luck to everyone.

[735 admitted early | Cross Campus](735 admitted early - Yale Daily News)

Here is one source for that info. If you were deferred, you can keep, up with Yale News here if you want. Don’t lose hope. My D was deferred and then accepted RD. It was a long wait. Hang in there!

Theoretically yes, but it IS a huge knock to my confidence haha… I know that this time next year I will be finishing my first semester at a school that I absolutely love (it remains to be seen whether or not this is actually Yale). Deferral just makes it difficult in terms of shortlisting regular applications!

Accepted. Posted stats up if you wanna get to know me.
To those deferred/rejection, you are all great people who aspire to dream big and thing big. I’m sure that you will be happy where you end up.

One question I have: When we go up against the RD applicants, will we be considered as equals? Or will we have some sort of SCEA-Deferred designation?

Deferred. This is going to be awkward when I win a Nobel and they ask me to be a guest lecturer.

Deferred… and surprisingly calm. Good luck with RD, everyone!

@000000000 that might be the most inspirational thing I’ve seen all day. I absolutely love it!!

Hey everybody, look at it this way: only 105 days until final decision! :(

No matter the decision, this was a great experience. It’s like we have a second chance at college apps. I for one am going to review my Common App essay again and perhaps make some changes before submitting it to other colleges! Hopefully that will yield more favorable results! Good job and good luck to everyone! We made it this far…that must count for something! :)

Hey guys, I just want to say don’t get discouraged, I’m sure you are all awesome and will end up in good schools one way or another. Look longer term, God has the best plan for you!

For those deferred (and I guess it was 60 percent of us): are you sending an update to Yale? Reaffirming interest, any new info/awards, etc?

Hey guys! I know this is a discussion thread, but I need advice from people who are far along in the college admission process. Did any of you send official AP score reports to Yale or any other of the colleges you guys might be applying to? None of the colleges I’m applying to state whether or not they take self-reports. I’m kinda confused… Lol

AP scores are self-reported. Don’t bother sending them official reports :-)

Same question, any further things to do after deferral? I plan on writing new essays and maybe resend them to Yale for regular decision, not sure if that would help though.

@apkid3 Are you allowed to send more things? If so, I wouldn’t know what to send.
