Yale Class of 2020 applicants

@TheWaffleMan149 Fingers crossed for the both of us!

@schroscat Yes, same!!!

Checklist is gone! Does that mean anything?

No, @frkngtnb8 , it does not mean anything

Whenever I see a rapid increase in a thread for a college, I always think it is for a relevant update.
Until it isn’t, and is usually trivial discussions tied with the cat poster whose name I have yet to remember (schroscat).
Not that I mean to discourage it! Only that I’ve played myself three different times haha.

Just saying, the link thing happened for SCEA, and it was accurate -those who could log into the admitted students portal were admitted and those who couldn’t (like myself) were deferred or denied

@Rafalala Yo… are you serious???.. for real? I’m scared now…

Ok just want to clarify, in the admitted students portal link (not the regular app link), everyone sees “403 Forbidden This Portal is only for admitted students” when they login right? Nothing else.

It will probably not be updated until decision day, but it might happen a few hours before decisions

You know what at this point I don’t even want to care about this speculation. Results are coming out in 44 hours so… 8-}

@Wendelstein yes, but it wasn’t until like 4 or 5 hours before the decision time, so they probably haven’t updated people’s access yet

So around noon or 1 on decision day, we should probably check regularly

@Nedcone remember the schrondinger’s cat!

Woah came back to this thread with 130+ notifications… What just went down? What link is this???

anyone else write about tamales in their essay?

As a parent of an applicant in this process, I completely understand the desire to know sooner, more, faster, now. And yes, there may indeed be ways for some to learn some kind of information earlier than one expects. That can be 2 days, or 1 day, or 4 hours (that WashU thing was accurate for us as it turned out). The reality, however, is that even if you receive some information that makes you happy or sad, it is simply more likely to make you … more anxious. Anxious because you know that it’s not official, it’s not real…yet. You will still want confirmation later, you will seek it out because you have doubts. You will not have any doubts after 5-ish pm, EST, on March 31st.

You will always have doubts, and anxiety, and heartache beforehand. Even if you ultimately receive fantastic news after the official time. You will still be thinking beforehand, “Is it a mistake?” “That can’t be true?!?” “Oh my gosh, please lord let it be true.” And yes, if it continues to be great news after the official Ivy Day release date and time, you will feel somehow validated in your early hope. But even that early “knowledge” was still not empty of fear and anxiety. I know what I write will not change anyone’s behavior. You will check, of course you will. That’s human. But also know that early, unofficial news, will not reduce anxiety at all. You will simply have the tell-tale heart of “Maybe it’s not true, maybe it is true, maybe it’s not true, ba boom…”

So check the website. Exercise your anxiety. Vent it out however you can. Laugh at your foolishness, whether you ultimately get corroborating news or not. It makes sense. But realize that only after the official Ivy Day release time will you actually have closure, intellectually and emotionally (yes, even waitlist people, although that’s closure-light). Best of luck to all. Ba boom.

@Nedcone My sincere apologies. As I said before, I have been avoiding these threads–particularly since many other CCers have criticized me for posting often–and I just so happened to tune in when there was an uproar. I apologize for the disturbance; I’d like to remind you that I did not start this whole “admitted students” page issue, many other members were also involved in the entire conversation, but I’ll take the blame anyway.

@zeedoq I still don’t quite understand it myself. From what I have gathered, there is a tiny loophole on the Yale website, where a student can basically see if he/she is admitted before decision day. People were checking if they can access said site. A few of us were misinformed–there was a lot going on–and we though the link was to the regular admission status portal. Anyway, we’re not sure what anything means…

Again, it’s down to the last two days. Trying to dissect little things on the website is bound to cause confusion and misinformation. Let’s ALL take a chill pill and try to enjoy our last two days of purgatory.

@schroscat I like your witty repartee!

@Nedcone If they’re usually trivial discussions, then you shouldn’t waste your precious time with it
