yale EA ppl

I’m new to College Confidential, so here’s a big HELLO to everryone! I applied to Yale EASC, but due to the civil unrest (gun shootings) we’ve had recently in Ethiopia, I couldn’t send in my SAT2 scores on time. My counselor told me ours is the only school affiliated with the College Board that has experienced such a situation. I know it won’t help, but out of curiosity, I’d like to know what approach you think Yale would take. Would they wait for my scores to reach them (I took my SAT2s on Dec.3) or would they defer me for Regular Decision? Thanks :)

bobbobbob - well, my school has an agreement with Princeton since we’re so close. If you exhaust all the courses my high school (this applies to some other high schools in the area as well) in math, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, foreign language, or music (if you’re really really talented), get a 4 on the corresponding AP or a 700+ on the SAT II, you can “apply” (it’s barely an application; if you meet the requirements, you’re in) for a semester-long Princeton course. So far, I’ve known people who took Spanish, physics, and math, and they’ve gone to Yale, Yale, and Yale & Princeton & Harvard & Carnegie Mellon, respectively.

yukster - HELLO! You should contact the admissions department and explain what happened. Or better yet, get a credible adult (like your counselor) to let them know. Since it wasn’t in your control, I’m sure it’ll be fine. How late was it?

Well, the EASC deadline is Nov.1 isn’t it? And since SAT scores take about 2 weeks to reach, I figured Yale would get mine by Dec.17, which is one day after they’re supposed to notify me by email whether or not I’m in. My counselor mailed them, but I don’t know. I’ll keep my fingers crossed!

welcome yukster. I would definitely get in touch with the admissions office ASAP. Good luck and stay safe.

theoneo. thats insane. I would have loved to have that opportunity here.

The only thing really offered by Columbia is this type of weekend class where we pick two science fields and Columbia creates classes specially for us.

Columbia Science Honors Program? Haha people here do that too. We kick ass.

By the way, guys, I highly recommend Norah Jones for the next 11 days. Very consoling.

Wow only 11 more days plus I have school off this Thursday!

It’s amazing, isn’t it? Only 11 more days! Sighs I dunno, personally, I’m hoping that I at least get deferred. Flat out rejection would completely ruin my vacations…

2700th post

how am i ever gonna get thru finals with the Yale EA decision looming in my head the whole time…

My finals start the following monday, if I get in I’m doing no studying. If I don’t get in I’m goin to have to study but not be able to…

lol ur so lucky! mine are the week of the 12th, and end on the 15th, so i havta study no matter what.

are there 10 days left?

11 .

Finals? For semester courses?

yep. those blasted midterms.

yo wrathofgod-
i thought i just saw you in the harvard early forum? but im too lazy to check that.

yea i was, but i’m not applyin early to harvard, sry bout that, shoulda made it more clear.

a few years ago, when they introduced the online notification system, they said the date would be the 17th, but released them on the 14th instead.

wow, so will anyone compulsively check with me starting the week of the 12th?
