Yale Interview

What kinds of questions are asked in a college interview? Mine is on Sunday, and I have no idea what to expect.

Any advice is appreciated!

Why Yale?
What are you interested in?
What’s important to you in life?
What are your plans for the future?

or to roll the above three into one: Tell me a little about yourself. It’s pretty vague. Anyway, my interviewer said it wouldn’t affect acceptance decisions much, if at all. Use the time to ask about the college.

expect any questions!!!but answer with ur own personality

here’s a question i was asked in both my yale interviews: tell me about your school.

keep in mind that it’s not a good idea to put down your school, or be negative in general.

Agreed. All those are viable possibilities. Here’s some other possibilities: What do you do in your free time? What classes interest you the most? Why do you like Yale? If you’ve visited, what did you like most about your visit? What is your favorite book, and why? He/she might even ask you, What all concerns you about Yale? or What do you not like about Yale?

tkm is right about the interview though. They aren’t as evaluative as they used to be, so a bad interview won’t spoil your chances at Yale, and a good interview won’t help much either. And the good news is that the interviewers aren’t out to trick you; they just want to get to know you a little better and make your application a little more personal.

I posted about this a week ago and since then, I’ve had my interview.

The website someone gave me was really helpful and accurate:

Oops. I didn’t know that we were supposed to contact the ASC director by mid-November for an interview; I began calling mine a couple days ago and it’s always the voicemail. Maybe that’s why. Stupid stupid stupid stupid.
