I used CT Limo when my daughter, '08, went to Yale. With DS who is a freshman, we’ve been using Q Conn which seems to be pretty good. I think I found out about Q Conn on this thread. Q Conn doesn’t always go to Yale but they do when the school is on break, starting, etc. and they do have a Yale discount. In terms of the airport, a lot of it has to do with where you are coming from. Southwest to Hartford is nice, but there is a connection if you’re going from the West Coast and non-stop to JFK can be less expensive and removes the chance of missing a connection.

Its reading week. woot woot.
Looking forward to having K1 home a bit.

Is anyone else having trouble with CT Limo website? I’m trying to book my S’s shuttle to LaGuardia for next Monday, and when I choose “Phelps Gate” their website says that “there are no available trips for this stop”. Are they not picking up at Phelps Gate anymore?

Looks like they are implementing a new system. I would call if you can’t complete the reservation. That’s what I did last week for my daughter.

P.S. They are definitely still going to Phelps. It’s $68 one way from either LGA or JFK.

Thanks Kdog044, I guess I’ll call tomorrow. I like using the website because of the 5% discount, and also the Yale discount kicks in with one click, so I was not wanting to lose that.

In looking at the site you may try putting “$Yale - Phelps Gate” in the location as that’s how it appears in the rate schedule. Just a thought.

Oh! I see–now I’m getting website with a completely different look, and a temporary form to complete. I’ll give it a try again now.

I called CT Limo (was wanting to check if their price would beat QConn) and they told me to call on Monday to schedule a pick-up – they would not do it for me this week. I had to wait on hold for a long time. Their site is under construction. It made me a little uneasy because I had to wait about a half hour to get through. It made me think that if they didn’t show up to pick up my son he wouldn’t be able to get through. I wonder why they would make such a big change during such a busy travel season.

I am having similar problems with CT Limo and was told the same thing about calling on Monday. They couldn’t have picked a worse time to revamp their web site! And after I went to bat for them on this thread…grrrr…

I am very confused by this.

Does it mean that, just because their web site is down, if a customer needs a pick-up this Saturday (instead of next week) and he calls CT Limo now, the CT Limo will not accept the reservation by a phone call for this Saturday’s pick-up? In this case, it will be too late to call on next Monday to schedule a pickup on Saturday this week, as the pick-up time will be two days earlier.

Have I missed something?

Somebody should tell some CT Limo employees to read the complaints here.

The Super Shuttle service in my howmtoown is much more dependable than the CT Limo service. Grrrr… Sometimes I think it has something to do with the fact that the business volume is just not large enough for the shuttle services between New Haven and the airports.

In the worse case scenario, I heard the taxi servce (is their phone number 777-7777) provides a quite reliable service, at a higher price, even when you call them at the last minute. (according to our experience in the past.) The downside is you can not have too many large luggages.

^mcat2, They asked what day I needed the service for (12/20), and since that is next week they said to call back Monday. I assume if someone needed a ride on Saturday they would have booked it for them.

yalemom15, Thanks for the clarification.

Another related question: I have never been confident of this: How do you tip the CT Limo driver, if any? Especially when CT Limo delivers a large bus, it seems relatively inconvenient to do so.

I think DS tends to tip the percentage that is recommended by Super Shuttle (when making a reservation online.) But we are not sure whether he does it right. I saw some may tip the driver but some may not.

At one time, I heard a taxi or airport shuttle driver sometimes prefers that the passengers let the driver load/unload the luggage for them. This is because he/she worries that the passengers may accidentally cause some damage to the car/van when they do so by themselves.

I, too, am now a little nervous. I completed their new ‘temporary’ online reservation form. There was never anywhere to submit payment–instead we got an email stating that our online reservation request form was received and that they “will be contacting all clients requesting reservations in time-sensitive order with nearest departure times receiving first priority.”

Now I’m worried that we won’t get a call back, and my S is coming home on Monday. I hate to wait until the last minute, and feel like I should just pay a little more and put him on Go Shuttle instead. CT Limo is really not on top of this during a busy travel season, that is for sure. I guess I’ll try calling them tomorrow.

As a frequent traveler taking numerous different methods of transportation, I would always tip $2/bag or a minimum of $2 if I didn’t have any bags. ;)

Kdog, Thanks for sharing your experience.

It seems quite funny that a modern day company which is in the airport shuttle service business, in which timing is everything, would ask their customer to make a reservation at least 72 hours in advance. And the reservation you make 72 hours prior to your departure time is not even a confirmed one! (That is, you can only fill out a form to make a request, and then they have up to 2 days to “finalize” your reservation.)

I think it is usually expected that the customer needs to make the reservation 24 hours prior to the pick-up time, not 72 hours.

“Connecticut Limousine is building a brand new online reservation system. While we finish testing, please click below to use our temporary information form to request an airport shuttle reservation. A representative will contact you via telephone within 48 hours to finalize your reservation. Be sure to submit your information at least 72 hours prior to your departure time.”

“A representative will contact you via telephone…” What? This is also something new. Most companies prefer that you log into their web site to do everything so they can save money. Their second best choice is for you to call them and potentially wait for half an hour before you can talk to a live person. Don’t they have any sense that, these days, it is very difficult to contact anybody successfully via phone? For most companies, it would be a computer, not an actual person, that will call you.

D, a frosh, has not taken CT limo yet. However, I had the same problems starting from THANKSGIVING break with CT limo. At that time, there was no webpage explaining the problems, it just kept saying that the routes that I wanted was not available. I made multiple calls, with long hold times, to see what was wrong. The only answer was that the computer was down, and since they were taking all reservations by hand, since the computers were down on their side as well, that they only wanted to take the reservation the DAY BEFORE travel. This made me nervous, so I booked an alternative.

Now, 4 weeks later, the computers “are still down,” but at least the webpage explains why. So I call again to try to book it, and still, they say, call the DAY BEFORE travel. I asked if there was any possibility that they would be full and thus D would not get a ride, but they said, no, that if the bus was full, then they would add a second bus at that time. It still makes me nervous given the customer service that I’ve gotten so far on my 5 phone calls to them.

They also said that they will not give the internet rate when we book over the phone, even if their computers were down. Debating looking into Go Airport Shuttle, Red Dot Shuttle, or Q Conn. Anyone out there with good experiences?

I filled out the CT Limo form yesterday, Thursday, at noon. So…supposedly if they do as they say they will, I should have gotten a phone call by tomorrow at noon–within 48 hours. If I don’t hear from them, then I will just go ahead and book an alternate. YoHoYoHo, my S has used Go Shuttle before and not had any problems (in fact he just used it last weekend when flying out for an internship interview). It’s just that they cost a little more than CT Limo because they don’t offer a Yale discount or an online discount. So, I was really counting on CT Limo.

Our freshman daughter has been calling CTLimo all week, and they have not been able to help her. She was supposed to call today (Friday), but got distracted by a final exam. Her flight is out of Bradley around noon on Sunday. If CTLimo can’t get her to the airport, what are our options? Cab? Other shuttle service? It looks like they all go to La Guardia, not Bradley.

Why did they pick like the busiest travel time of the year to upgrade their system? That’s just stupid.

tamara6, hopefully your D will be able to reach CT Limo tomorrow and get set for pickup. However, I might be wrong, but I think Go Shuttle might also go up to Bradley. Anyone else know for sure? Here is the link I found: [Hartford Bradley Airport Shuttle, Hartford Bradley Airport Limousine from GO Airport Shuttle Connecticut](Hartford Bradley Airport Shuttle | GO Airport Shuttle Connecticut)
