Tell him to ask his FroCo. They will know how strict they are about them leaving on time.

My D left DC at 11:25. Got to New Haven at 8. 3 1/2 hours late. Train needed to change engines.

@Bearsgarden: I believe student ID’s are programmed to stop working at noon on December 18th. What that means is that your son can stay in his room, but once he leaves his dorm, his ID will not allow him back in.

I don’t know about other dorms, but at L-Dub the rooms (and bathrooms) work on an old-fashioned key (you remember, the metal ones that can’t be programmed
), so your son could move about the building for a few hours.

ETA: the building itself has doors that open to the ID.

Is L-Dub housing for Pierson freshman? I can’t seem to remember.

@Ixnaybob: Yes, rooms and bathrooms within an entryway all have old-fashioned keys. So, a student staying slightly later than 12noon on December 18th could roam their room, entryway (and basement) of a dorm. However, if they left the building, they could NOT get back in, as entryways are ID protected.

@NewHavenCTmom , yes, Pierson freshmen but also Berkeley.

It was good seeing my D and it was funny that on the way to the train station she said that she could not wait to get home to get some sleep and get ready for classes. When I told her that she had just called Yale “home”, she was kind of surprised. It actually made me feel good to know that she feels that she is in the right place so much that it feels like a home. Of course, we both know that it isn’t home and she can’t wait to come home for Christmas.

I’m in search of Yale logo cotton fabric. The closest I’ve come is BYU which is blue and it has a “Y”.

Any ideas where I might be able to find such an animal?

why NewHavenCTmom - are you making all of us parents something nice for the holidays?

LOLOL!

I don’t know. But I have a friend who was going to make jammie pants for her son at another university. She priced the fabric and other supplies. Then she saw them on sale at a local department store for less than it would have cost for her to make them.

I was just googling a bit. Doesn’t anyone make bed sheets with the Yale logo? My mom used to buy sheets to use to make other items. All the searches come up with the size sheets you need to buy for Yale. Or the ASA bedding packages. But no bed sheets with a Yale logo.

I just wanted to thank the Yale parents for being so helpful answering questions here and on other threads. My D2 is applying RD (wished she had decided in time for SCEA) and I’m hoping that I can join you as a parent on this thread. Since the chance of acceptance for anyone is very small, I’ll thank you anyway for all the info you have provided to me and my daughter during the application process and I’m sure she will be reading the interview threads!

@musicmerit

I’ve tried Google & Yahoo searches! No luck.

That BYU fabric would probably work (outside of Utah).

Best of luck @jomama2g.

Thanks @IxnayBob. Grades, scores etc. are in line but you know the odds…fingers and toes crossed :)

I’m doing some Yale knitting this season. My YPMB member wishes I had gotten to it earlier in the year
For those of you who knit, we’ve decided that KnitPicks Stroll Winters Night is closest to Yale Blue.

best of luck jomama2g - I know for a fact that your baby will land somewhere good.

@IJustDrive…would love to know what you’re knitting. I’ve recently started an afghan for my son…
