Yale receives more apps than harvard

I hate how those stats threads don’t include EC’s

well i’d expect that to happen during the regular decision round rather than the early action round.

I’m just going to pray that these people had mediocre recs, essays, leadership, EC’s, or other subjective stuff.

earlier, quake said that penn received more apps than yale. this is untrue. http://www.dailypennsylvanian.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2004/12/08/41b6b6060f931</a>
stanford however, did receive more.

ummm blurblurblur…the link you posted is CLEARLY from last year…as it says “December 8, 2004”…here’s the link to the Yale article from this year…

http://www.yaledailynews.com/article.asp?AID=30975</a></p>

and the DP article:

http://www.dailypennsylvanian.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2005/11/18/437d8e145a9f2</a></p>

I dunno…correct me if i’m wrong, but the last time i checked 4,148 is a bigger number than 4,065…but again that may just be me.

and i’m not trying to turn this into a competition thing…i just found it odd because SCEA usually attracts more applicants than ED…but Penn got more apps than the SCEA Ivy Schools…just interesting to see if it indicates any tredns for ED in general.

From Penn article: “The selection committee will begin reviewing applications on Nov. 28,”

So does that mean they do all of this in a 2 week period? 4000 people?

isn’t penn bigger though?

yea…but i imagine those that are completely not qualified or those that are definitely gonna get in have alreade been weeded out by the regional officers…that part should go pretty quickly…

Mensa…Here’s a link to an article in the Christian Science Monitor…its dated, and not to freak people out, but it’s probably more competitive now than the article presents (but I completely don’t know), but it gives a good idea of how the process works and how quickly it goes:

http://csmonitor.com/cgi-bin/durableRedirect.pl?/durable/1998/12/15/fp11s1-csm.shtml</a></p>

ooh, sorry, i didn’t notice that.

those stat threads from earlier years really depress me…
ah well. the only thing i can do now is wait. and be happy that less people applied to harvard? i dont know.
sorry for leaving inane comments, im just desperately trying to push off studying for my upcoming calc test.

filmxoxo17…penn is bigger but this is the first year that its ED numbers have been bigger than the SCEA numbers…that’s just why it’s kind of odd…

you guys need to think outside of the box, its not that ED is beating out SCEA but rather that Penn is slowly becoming the hottest school. Prestige seems to be losing a battle to pragmatism.

“It’s really an extraordinary group of applicants,” he said. “The challenge is going to be how to select a certain number out of these applications.”

2 many cc ppl applying :S
mre nerve wracking news…

i like penn, im applying rd. i just think the greek scene is a bit heavy…thoughts?

I still can’t believe that I’m competing with 4,064 other high school seniors. That number just completely stuns me…

whenicomearound…don’t worry about the greek scene…it’s really true that you can do what you like with it…some people seem to think that if you’re not greek ot don’t go to frats you have almost no options…it’s not true…frat parties are a large presence, though…some of them are a lot of fun, too…but it’s not a presence looming over campus social life.

If you are stunned by that, just wait until the RD round. You’ll be knocked out cold by those numbers.

Thank goodness I’m not applying RD then!

Right, but you could very well end up in the RD bin if you get deferred in EA.
