Does the applicant need to create their own FedEx account, or will a parent’s existing account (with the same home address) work? The acceptance package is obviously going to be addressed to the applicant, but is the FedEx system ‘smart’ enough to send the alert to the parent’s account for all packages being delivered to the home address (even those not addressed to the parent)?
my girlfriend is actually coming to visit me on Thursday and we’re going out to get coffee and meeting my friends, then watching Boy and the Heron from 3-5. I haven’t seen her in 2 months and I think opening it with her after the movie would be cool.
That’s so cute!!
Notification is through the portal. I don’t think students get Yale gear until several days, maybe a week later. Chill, the decisions come out in just a few days.
Yeah, until she immediately breaks up . . . (just kidding, I also think that sounds perfect).

We all know notification is through the portal. The point is that a physical packet with Yale swag/merch is typically sent via FedEx to arrive the day after portal notification, which would be the 15th, which means, the shipping label is created and entered in the system (thus generating an auto notification to the recipient’s account) at least the day before, which would be the 13th. I understand there are ample reports of this from prior yrs. What I’m asking is whether the auto notification only works on a student’s FedEx account (where the name AND address have to match), or does it also show up on the parent FedEx account (where only the address, but not the name matches)
Do you have concrete evidence that they do? There’s no mention of “swag”, “FedEx”, “merch”, or “package” (apart from the concept of a “financial aid package”) in either the 2023 SCEA or 2022 SCEA thread, and I looked at the mid-December entries and didn’t see anything in that vein. It’s certainly possible people who were accepted got a physical package “the day after portal notification” and just didn’t say anything on CC, but I would expect for at least someone to have mentioned it if it were a thing.
FedEx tracking smells like portal astrology; I know tensions are high, but I’d suggest trying to ignore it and doing something else with your time and energy.
Sorry if I missed it but did you say your parents were already signed up for notifications? If not you could sign them up and add your name. I read where you can add 5 alternate names/nicknames.
I really wish I knew for sure for you. We are signed up for it but I have not really paid attention if things for my daughter are some of the texts I get.
From fedex:
Alternate Names
Please enter any nicknames or alternative spellings of your first name (i.e., Michael, Mike, Mickey) to ensure that your delivery preferences are always applied. You may add up to five alternate names.
I don’t think people should sign up for these alerts simply because it would only notify you a few hours in advance and would take away from the surprise if you’ve been accepted.
However, I doubt it’s portal astrology. Why else would a package from New Haven be coming your way?
INSANEEEEE lol she goes to brown and I did want to ED there but ultimately decided to see if I could do yale. Either way I’m not too broken up about the case where I don’t get in, just hoping for the best.
I don’t think they come until RD round either way…
Wow, I was in a similar situation too. Almost applied early to BF’s school, but changed to Yale last minute. Guess Thursday will determine if that was a good idea haha
wait we are so similar I’m also from tx haha
yep yep Repping the South
Hopefully we’ll see each other at Bulldog Days
just shot you a dm, hoping the best!!
Does anyone know any successful cases of appeal at Yale? lol

I have read about successful cases of appeal for FA packages.
