To all those deferred, I am very sorry. Are you of the camp of you would rather have a deferral or straight out deny? I know when my oldest was deferred to U Penn it was very tough.

If you click on the link to the YDN article, there is a nice graph on admit, deferral and reject rates over time. Two years ago the deferral rate started to come down from over 50%. IMO this is a good thing as there were a lot (probably most) of deferred applicants when it was at 50%+ who had no real chance and created false hope when people really needed to move on.
