Yus yus yus. I understand, but I’m just not sure that I’m so heavily invested in going to Yale that I ought to pay $75 for the application fee. I wish it was free :[ Alas, it is not. Anyway, I intend to make sure that colleges know how passionate I am about my activities. That is what the essay/short answer is for, is it not? That’s why I hate just listing everything I do. People don’t get to see that I actually like doing it and assume I’m a resume builder. (Even though there’s not much built, considering my list, lol)

I suggest you get on the results thread for last year at Yale and chance yourself by comparing your accomplishments with the people who either got in or did not. Much as I wish I could tell you otherwise, I think your credentials resemble the people who were not accepted (which is also what silverturtle told you.)

just saying, was I the only person who thought that the whgole 17/18th century self studied Tin whistle thing was totally cool??? I mean, it may be that I’m another music obsessed freak but still…that’s NOT box checking, maybe there weren’t too many extracurriculars avaiblable? That aside, chances aren’t high for most of us who apply, but then again, my gpa UW wasn’t much higher…and I was competing against all those smart east coast asians;) Piano, if you really want to apply, see if you can get a fee waiver, mine took no trouble at all

the tin whistle thing WAS pretty interesting. I do have to say that. totally weird, but still.

haha, thanks! the tin whistle isn’t exactly impressive as far as difficulty goes, but I gotta say, I play a mean sailor’s jig. ![]()
hmm i should look into that fee waiver thing. I wasn’t going to because I didn’t think I had a chance for it, but hey, it can’t hurt to try.

Yeah, does anyone know what you have to do to get free waivers? I mean, I’m totally willing to pay, but the sheer number of schools (about 10) is quite a lot, and if it’s okay, I’d like to get a waiver for at least a few of them

Sorry to tell you but I think your chances are quite low. Less then 15%. Was that your full r

Connor: if you say that this person has a 15% chance of being admitted then you’re saying she is twice as likely (+100%) as the typical applicant. Remember the admit rate for last year was 7%.

That’s not exactly what he meant to say, I’m sure. I’m guessing he used some kind of program or application (like silverturtle’s program) to “chance” said student. These programs, in my opinion, are a fairly decent estimate as to how well you fit the profile of a typical student, not necessarily an accurate representation of if the student will get in.

It’s not my full resume, just the basics. As far as percentages go, actual programs give me about a 56% with my full resume. Computer programs are probably pretty accurate, but who knows? With Ivy Leagues, it’s such a guessing game.
