<p>I wonder if your son is a carrier of a particular strain of staph? Is it possible that he picked up it in the past during his prior hospitalizations (HAI)? Many people carry staph in their nasal passsages and on the skin without it causing any problems; only when their immune system weakens the bacteria can wreak havoc. Even when these folks take antibiotics to clear the staph out, re-infection can occur because bacteria sticks around on the everyday objects, such as clothes, toothbrushes, etc.</p>

<p>And the pylonial cyst (or however that’s spelled) also known as “Jeep Disease” after the number of young GIs that come down with it after bumping around in army jeeps – I think is something different as well. </p>
