DD went to college at Santa Clara. There were a few such earthquakes when she was there…over the four years.
She never felt one at all…and she was so disappointed! We told her that she should be grateful…because if she felt the quakes…they were a bigger issue!
S1 and DIL have lived in the east bay for 3 years and have never felt a quake. DH and S2 were in St. Louis for a weekend college visit and got woken up by one.
I have felt many in the bay area over the past several years, but am used to ones that are magnitude 3.5 and under. They don’t do much but I feel them.
The only earthquake I ever felt was in…Chicago…probably 1972 or so. I was sleeping on a water bed, which started to rock and roll…and stuff fell off the windowsill. I thought a big truck had driven down the street! Never thought about an earthquake until the news…that evening!
