You buy your first pair of Naturalizer shoes.

And you love them….and start looking for more colors and styles.

And you give away all your cute but uncomfortable Jack Rogers sandals, heels, and anything that doesn’t feel comfy to your younger friends….who think you are so generous and you just smile and think , “enjoy it while you can”!:wink:

Oh dear… I guess I was old in my 40’s. Once I stopped going into an office - and my last stint was in Silicon Valley, land of the sneaker and turtle necks - I refused to wear footwear which hurt. Even at weddings, even at special events, even…even…even. Nope not going to spend any amount of time where the only thing my brain is able to do is scream ‘ouch…what the actual heck is up with those feet’

Oh, I’ve always loved comfy shoes…. SAS, Clarks, Bzees, sketcher’s etc. Daughter is same way except she is more frugal and less inclined to have as many pairs around.

I have always had old feet :grinning:.

Recently my cousin and a former neighbor both posted on social media photos of their daughters and friends going to their first dances in 8th grade. They live in 2 different parts of the country but in both all the girls except one were wearing shortish dresses and white sneakers. I’m way out of the loop on 8th grade girl fashion but I’m guessing this is a current trend. I remember the lace up the ankle high heel sandals I wore awkwardly and uncomfortably to dances in junior high and I am very very jealous.

@O2BonCC: “When your doctor asks you to draw a clock and remember three words at your annual visit.”

My doctor asked me to draw a clock showing 10:50. We disagreed about the result. I drew a digital clock showing 10:50. He wanted an “old-school” clock. I told him I no longer used one. The question: was or was not my digital clock correct? (He did laugh about it.)

I have a first cousin in her early 80s She’s still working and very active. I remember when she was in her teens, circa 1960, dressing like a “hood” with short skirts, black tights, and white Keds. She got married in her aunt’s back yard and during the ceremony, the then-popular song “The Stripper” was playing in a nearby yard.

Absolutely! :slightly_smiling_face: It’s on your doctor if he failed to specify what type of clock. Mine actually drew an example, which I found rather odd given the reason for the test.

An 85 year old friend (who probably is in a bit of cognitive decline) was annoyed by the clock exercise at doctor’s office. She only has digital clocks at home, so that is what she is accustomed to. I had to just smile and nod.

I asked my H about this - he’s a neurologist. He said when he asks his patients to draw a time he always gives them a circle to draw on so there is no ambiguity of what he is asking for. He said if someone drew the a digital clock he’d also ask for an analog one as he can glean more info from it, such as recognizing the difference in the size of the hands and understanding how they appear in space.
