YK, in hindsight it worked out for the best - as my mother had gotten remarried and I had (have) a fabulous new father who adopted me and I was his daughter from day one. As it turned out, I was 9 when he died … But didn’t find out til I was 27, and if I hadn’t gone searching (this was pre-Internet), I still wouldn’t have known to this day. It was actually harder on my half-bro / half-sis, to find out as young adults that their mother had lied to them about their father’s previous marriage and my existence. They were incredibly angry at her (understandably so). There was really no excuse for someone not to have contacted my mother; she was as shocked to find this out as I was.

I have since met them a few times, attended my half-sis’ wedding, and they are on my FB, to tie it back to the topic theme!
