@OHMomof2 The promo codes don’t seem to work on the luggage.
For luggage, nothing beats the rolling duffle bags by Ful. $40 at Costco is a great price. Those bags are rock-solid, and no matter how hard Menzies tried, they have not been successful in breaking mine.
^ My D has the Costco bags and they are great.
We got those samsonite tote a ton duffles for our D to take after a recommendation here on CC. I’m stunned at the amount she can fit in them, and since they weigh so little, can hold so much more than her hard-sided rolling case. We paid $19 on Amazon, and I’m thinking of ordering one more to replace the suitcase. The person who originally suggested them said they lasted her kid’s 4 years of back and forth to college. D will keep them under her bed for extra storage, too.
@sseamom : I remember the flurry of peeks over to the Samsonite Tote. I wan’t sold, but I’ve since seen your notes on the packing, and grown curious. Can’t really go wrong at that price range, either. They do ship/fly/meet airline regulations? (I will look).
I sent 3 Ikea zip bags to D to pack her stuff for move out (driving). Worked perfectly and $3-4 each.

They do meet airline regs, at least for Alaska. We measured.
When S was driving home we got several of the Ziplock XXL zippered totes:
very similar to the ikea bags… Don’t think they would work for airlines, would probably fail the gorilla test. ![]()
Was just approved for a new Spark business Visa from CapOne–$500 cash after $4500 spent in 1st 3 months and 2% cash back. $59 annual fee.
I like cash!
I have that card! I use it for travel rewards but I LOVE it! No fees for international use, too.
@sseamom I bought two when they on sale on Amazon, but the price has since gone up. BBB is a few bucks cheaper with a coupon.
Check tomorrow - maybe they will be one of the Prime Day specials.
Yes, have one for H’s business and my nonprofit as well. It is our primary card. They have good CS agents as well.
Good to know they’ve gone up! I’m actually checking Prime deals so will watch for them.
I find it funny that Macy’s wouldn’t remove the security tag since it has happened to me twice, both times Macy’s. We didn’t have a Macy’s in our city, but I like it and often would go when we traveled, or I’d order online. Twice they didn’t take the sensor off (and it didn’t buzz when we left the store). Called and they said to send back the items. Really? Send back an $11 pair of shorts with shipping both ways? A Florida store, Beall’s, took them off for me.
I think the store should call a local store and arrange it for you.
@twoinanddone I wouldn’t want to put someone’s job in jeopardy. The sales lady at Macy’s said there are camera’s throughout the store and she didn’t want security accusing her of doing something wrong. I think some stores have become stricter about this due to fraud.
We hare having trouble logging into the Amazon account
DS never removed it from his old college email. That could be an issue.
I don’t think they should put someone’s job on the line, but a manager from a BonTon could call a manager of a Macy’s near you and make the request. It can be against their policy for a clerk to do it, but allow it for an approved manager. As I said, last two times I got something with a security tag was from a Macy’s so they make mistakes too. They should be understanding that it is something that happens in the retail business.
Some Bogs rainboots are on sale for prime day. 30% off. When you add it to your cart and then click checkout you can see the adjusted price.
@bookmom7 I also hit the Kohl’s sale on Sunday with almost the same list. We purchased a pillow, mattress pad, mattress foam topper, towels, and shorts. With the 20 percent off, we spent $118 and saved $218. DS commented that his dorm bed might end up being more comfortable than his bed at home and is worried that he may oversleep. Lol
