Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

REI has Darn Tough socks on sale (25% off). They have a good return policy so I purchased some and will wait and see if there are any good Black Friday deals on them before I wash and wear them.

I picked up a dozen more vanilla at CVS - the shelf was not marked, but the 1 oz bottles are still ringing up at 3/$3 at my area CVS stores, and part of the buy $30 worth of select groceries get $10 CVS gift card.

I’m going to try the vanilla at CVS. I’ll return if it is $7 a piece. Thnx @3puppies

@gearmom - My CVS stores have a price checker ā€œred machineā€ so you can confirm the price before paying.

@3puppies It worked! An unmarked secret sale. I bought 6 vanillas saving $30. Thanks, vanilla friends!

Hmmm, when I go past CVS, I will check. The two CVS stores I checked today had much higher prices marked under the bottles of vanilla extract, so I didn’t touch them.

@Hlmom Check it at the kiosk like @3puppies suggested. It scans as 3 for $3.

When I checked, they scanned at the marked prices, $3.99 for non-Schilling brand and $6.99 for Schilling (small bottles). NO discount or sale. One of the CVS salespeople said that each CVS is an independent franchise, but I had never heard that before.

I was referring to the CVS Gold Emblem branded ones. They may be carrying a different generic brand in your area

Yes, I bought the Gold Emblem brand. Never used it before but pure vanilla is pure vanilla.

Most of the CVS spices were marked $3/3 at my CVS, but the vanilla did not have a sale tag under it, so I didn’t even try. Maybe I should have. It was priced at $6.59, I think.

@Barbalot Same at our CVSs which is why it is a secret unmarked sale for the Gold Emblem pure vanilla. If you go back check at the red kiosk. It was $6.79 but rang up 3 for $3.

Thank you @3puppies! Was out running errands so tried to find the vanilla. First CVS was sold out of vanilla, but found 7 bottles at 2 other stores. Did not have a sale tag, but rang up 3/$3.

Does pure vanilla extract usually contain corn syrup?

gold emblem contains: Ingredients

Vanilla Bean Extractives in Water, Alcohol (35%), and Corn Syrup.

The vanilla I’m familiar with does not contain corn syrup. That may change the flavor.

@Sybylla Vanilla bean extractives in water and alcohol. No corn syrup listed for the Gold Emblem Pure vanilla extract . Maybe you are looking at imitation?

The past few days, I was wanting to buy thermal tops at Macy’s and had them in my online shopping cart. Yesterday when I looked at it again, the price had dropped further so they were 1/2 of the originally marked price, so I bought them and a few pairs of Alfred Dunner slacks for my mom. I’m happy! I also found a Macy’s gift card that I applied toward the purchase, further reducing the cost!

Thank you @3puppies! Just went to CVS and got the vanilla extract. Great deal.

@3puppies, thank you for posting about the vanilla extract. I made DH to go get some and he came back with the exact item 3 for $3 based on your description. He said that the store clerk said that it’s a great deal but wondered if their system had it incorrect. The clerk said that, last week, their system had some perfumes for $0 (yes, free!). Before CVS were able to change the price in the system, many people found out about it and came in and ā€œboughtā€ everything on the shelf and CVS allowed the purchases since it was their ā€œpriceā€ in the system.

I went to CVS tonight to check out the vanilla. They had the 3/$3 signs on all of the spices EXCEPT the pure vanilla extract. That one was tagged at $5-something. I asked the cashier to scan it just in case it came up at the sale price but it didn’t :frowning: . Oh, well…
