Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

40% off everything J Crew. Including suits. Code Thanku

A pair of slacks I ordered for my mom from Macy’s-arrived yesterday, Alfred Dunner slacks for $14.99. They look much nicer and more comfortable than what she’s been wearing and are soft brushed polyester and look like they will last her a long time. They are about 1/2 the list price.

Any special codes for American eagle? Thanks

Private sale at Mytheresa (designer stuff) - ordered a pair of shoes that never goes on sale here - 30% off. Not great, but I will take that. If I get tired of them, I will be able to resell them on RealReal for 70% of what I paid for them.

I have a question and this seems like the right place to post it because I’ve seen people post about Kohls cash. I’m not a Kohls shopper and have never gotten it before. I came across a deal where an apple watch was $359 but you got $120 in Kohls cash. I’m getting my daughters a particular spiralizer for the holidays and Kohls has it so I knew I’d have something to use the cash on.

Here’s the part I don’t understand: the cash has to be used by a date before Hanukah. For all I know, dh doesn’t want an apple watch or would want a different one from the one I ordered. But I won’t know until I give it to him for Hanukah. But I will have spent the Kohls cash by then. IF I need to return the watch, will I just have to repay what I ā€œpaidā€ for the spiralizers/used my Kohls cash on? I have no desire to be unethical…I just don’t understand how it works if you end up returning the item for which you earned the Kohls cash but you’ve already spent it.

Kohls will readjust your return to reflect the usage of their cash. If you just exchange and no price change is involved, than there is no change in Kohls cash.

Read an article about warmest base layers which recommended Cuddle duds. I shopped around online and found them at Macy’s. I finally used eBates and got 6 of them—2 apiece for D and me and 1apiece for each of my goddaughters. They were originally $36, marked down to $22 or 23. I had them in my ā€œcartā€ but got busy and when we went back a few days later, the price had dropped to $18 apiece. I was so happy I bought mom 3 pairs of Alfred Dunner slacks, all of which were marked down from their original price.

Shipping was $10 to HI but somehow I was given a $10 credit as well and able to use a $60 gift card I had laying around. Net price for the 6 thermal tops and 3 slacks was $65!

They have started arriving. Mom wore one pair of the slacks yesterday. I tried on one of the tops yesterday and LOVED it—cute AND warm!

^^makes sense @Onward. Thank you!

cuddle duds are a really good base layer. I know some people don’t like Macys but I love the deals.

The warmer base layers were both wool ones but I like synthetics for ease of care and smooth (non-scratchy). This was warmest and most attractive synthetic in the review. I can see it being worn as a shirt or a base layer, it’s attractive enough and thick enough not to need to be covered up. The review also has testers of varying body types and noted that the this and the two top-reviewed base layers looked good on ALL body types.

I’m happy enough with Macy’s. They do have good deals and stores throughout the US that will accept returns and exchanges. I’ve found it generally better to order online as our local stores have such limited inventory in styles and sizes.

@Himom, can you link the ones you bought and are happy with? Macys has a number of options.

There are the ones I bought. The ones reviewed were crew neck but I think v-neck is more attractive and versatile (can be hidden under other garments).

Haven’t yet worn them in cold weather but they look significantly warmer than the Uniqlo and Costco thinner base layers.

thanks @HImom . Just ordered some from Macy’s and used my mrrebates link to get 5% cash back.

Yes, I used ebates to get done rebates on that and my Columbia jacket. Going broke saving money but at least I will be warm. I am impressed with the softness and craftsmanship of the garments. They are nearly packaged in sealed plastic bags.

Ok, does anyone know where I can get a women’s Hawaiian shirt, that is easily exchangeable? My son’s GF would like one, but the one place I found that actually has something I like, Honolulu, is out of her size. I know there’s Hilo Hattie’s, but their return policy is pretty strict, and shipping and return could eat up quite a bit. I looked at PAC Sun, Macy’s, Lord and Taylor, Nordstrom, etc., even Kohls. NOTHING for women. I am looking to spend seventy five bucks or less. Thanks for any ideas.

Here is a place where you can find some inexpensive women’s Hawaiian shirts, Walmart.

Thanks @HImom. I went through several I liked, and they don’t have size medium either.

Here’s a big selection but I know NOTHING about the vendor or its policies or quality:

Thanks @HImom. I was just looking there. Unless I find something better that’s recommended, I have found a couple I can live with on Amazon. They indicate free returns, so I guess that’s the best I can do.

Amazon tends to be good about returns but usually have a time window that is best to observe, which makes it tougher for holidays. Wish I could be more helpful. Sarongs are easy and fit pretty much anyone and can be used as a coverup, scarf, or whatever and come in a nice array or prints. They’re very reasonably-priced and are widely available. Hilo Hattie is where my friend and her family buy their matching garments for their family when they visit Oahu.
