$10.99 with free shipping.

SLUMOM, I’ve been to three stores looking for a Shady Brook turkey for Thanksgiving. Can you pick up another for me, please?

My latest score was a tool chest from Sears that DH wanted. It was advertised at 50% off, on top of which I got another 10% off for having a Sears card (which I did not use), 4% cash back from Ebates, and 1% cash back from MasterCard :)

lje62 that was very nice! I’m going through our pantry & finding things we don’t need & bringing them to the food pantry at our church. I kept meaning to bring stuff to a homeless shelter, but couldn’t find a local one.

I love hearing about these deals! The ā€˜dollar stop’ at Target has some nice, stocking-stuffer items for girls.

Jolynne , is there a branch of United Way or Salvation army in your area ? They are usually involved with food pantry and drop off centers. They said that used coats and jackets are needed too.
I wanted to take food from my pantry , but a lot of my food was opened boxes of bulk food. I don’t have a lot of useful canned food ( not much you can do with a can of pumpkin if your other resources are limited )

I also got a DVD set for my daughter ( 2nd Season of 30 Rock ) on Amazon.com for $25.99 ( stores sell for $40 ) I have bought a few things from them and got free shipping too !

Wanted to buy a sun shirt because I lost mine on my last trip. Surfed the web & found many in the $50 & up range. Finally looked at Campmor & was able to buy one @ under $20 & another for under $30 (both on sale & significantly lower than their regular prices). Also bought duofold crewnecks @ under $10 and three pairs of socks (the cheapo ones I bought from Ross gave me blisters on the last trip). Total price for everything including shipping to HI was under $114!
One of the duofold crewnecks is for me (will be on East Coast in March) & the other for niece at Notre Dame for Christmas. We don’t have too much warm gear & can use it!

Thanks, lje62. I’ll check re: the UW or SA. The free shipping on Amazon is great. Maybe I’ll combine w/family and/or friends to get that…

My good buy of the day today: a beautiful beaded black dress+jacket combo in pristine condition at Nordstorm Rack for $33! It was originally for sale at Nordsrom for $650! And the best part is that is fits so perfectly - no alterations needed! Now I’m all set for the company’s holiday party.

Wow, you did great to find that outfit–I find it challenging to go thru Nordstrom’s Rack & have rarely had much success there. I did get a Foxcroft blouse there–normally $65 on sale for $20.

Our buy of the day was from Office Depot. We originally went to the one closer to our home & they had a line that was VERY very VERY long. We gave up & tried Best Buy, which didn’t have what hubby wanted so we tried one other Office Depot which was situated in a working class shopping center next to Savers & PriceBusters. They had very few customers & had what hubby wanted in stock & on sale! We were very pleased! The other branch never even suggested trying other stores, just suggested we get in their long, long, long line. Hubby got a Memorex lightscribe 20x DVD reader/writer for $35 & is very pleased.

I found a dress to wear to my son’s wedding at Nordstrom’s Rack. Originally hundreds of dollars. Marked down to $29.99 and it was on a clearance rack that was 50% off. Yes. Bought a dress for $15. It’s well worth the challenge of going through those racks. I can find clothes cheaper on clearance racks than I can at Salvation Army.

Was at the Chicago Art Museum this weekend and found a beautiful ornament in the gift store. It was a glass peacock with a real peacock feather for the tail. I bought 3 of them for $4.00 each. One is for me, one for my sister and one is for that unexpected gift that I just might need.

I overheard a clerk say that it was the best buy in the store.

Very interested with these Nordstrom Rack stories…hmmmm…we happen to live in a mid-atlantic state that doesn’t have ONE Nordstrom Rack…starting to think it may be worth the gas and aggravation to take a road trip to Long Island…

On another note, Jersey Shore Premium Outlets just opened. Stopped by yesterday with the 15 yr old clothes horse…Loves JCrew (I won’t even walk into the retail store…way too expensive)…the outlet had the entire store 40-50% off and that’s from the reduced prices. Then we had a $25 off $100 coupon. My H and D bought 6-7 sweaters for $125.

rodney, where is that outlet ? I go to he one in AC but only if I know for sure I will buy something because you have to pay to park ( unless you go to some questionable areas and hope to not run into danger )

^^ You don’t have to pay to park if you take one of the casino buses and walk over to the outlets.

Another food bank story:

My club had a turkey drive on Saturday…bitterly cold, wind chills made it seem as if the temps were in the teens. The first hour or so the dropoffs were slow. Then a truck pulled in with what seemed like tons of food. Toys 'r Us is headquartered in town and, unbeknownst to us, they had a food drive competition. Points were awarded per item and the department that earned the most points won a prize. They plan to do it again next year. Then another truck from a different company arrived. These were businesses that hadn’t even told us they were conducting the drives as a result of some of our publicity.
All the food is going to the Community Food Bank which distributes to local pantries all over NJ. The Community Food Bank has said it may have to ration this year so we know our contribution will help.

rodney–if you drive to the JErsey Shore Outlets, you might be closer to King of Prussia, PA (Nordstrom’s RAck there, I think) than heading all the way up to Long Island.

Are those outlets better than the A.C. outlets?

Nice that you are helping out, silvervestersmom!

Nordstrom Rack is either a hit or a miss. If I had to travel miles and miles just for the sole purpose of shopping at Nordstrom Rack, I would not do it. I think the best times to find something in there is right after Nordstrom’s semi-annual sales (one just ended). The downtown Seattle Nordstrom Rack is very amusing. It has ā€œdesigner sectionā€ where shoppers poke fun at discounted odds and ends by D&G and the like.

Our local paper had a front page story on food banks running out of food. I’ve added a few items to my Costco shopping list to drop off in their Northwest Harvest collection boxes later tonight.

I bought some artificial (tho very realistic) plumeria flowers with a clip for hair accessories. They were only $.55 apiece! It was definitely a great find & D says she can give some of them to her friends for the holidays.

I did well with Filene’s, but have not found much at Nordstrom’s Rack.

I got ā€œCostcoedā€ last week. Had a card to use and some coupons, and ended up walking t $100 poorer. Will use everything; all necessities but I did not need them NOW, but I was THERE. sigh. That’s why I held off using that card as long as I did. No discipline.

Also worked th school’s Xmas bazaar and overspent on dumb things there. So many things going to good causes, and reasonably priced as well. Several of the teachers who have booths there donate heavily to some causes that are so worthy. But I bought some goodies that really were unnecessary. I am staying away from the stores.

lje: sorry for the delay…I was out all day…the new outlets are at 100A off GSParkway in Tinton Falls.

Jolynne: yea, we were down at the shore, but we actually live closer to LI…for college visit trips, however, good to know about King of Prussia…didn’t know there was one there (considering the last time I had been at that mall was in 1984…haha)

Used a 40% off one item coupon at Michael’s Crafts. I only bought one item so feel pretty good about that. Also got another 40% off one item coupon good next week.
