<p>Oh, I’ve seen the Queen, too! In 2007, my H and I were in Williamsburg, VA to celebrate our anniversary. We had honeymooned there many years before. We stayed at the Williamsburg Inn and she was, too, although not for as long as we were. Her advance team, in addition to extensive Secret Service personnel, were there several days in advance. Her belongings arrived by a huge transport truck and when unloaded, we could see that the luggage was inscribed, in gold, with “The Queen”. 
Sandra Day O’Connor was staying in the room across the hall from us.</p>
<p>I went to three fundraisers, one with Obama and two with Michelle Obama, and each time I was able not only to sit up close, but to shake their hands and talk to them on the rope line. Ditto for Biden, and my son was with me for that, so he was thrilled to meet the VP.</p>
<p>I also met Bill Clinton twice after his presidency, once at a club and the other while he and Hillary were walking in a Chappaqua neighborhood. We joined in on their stroll. Poor folks – they couldn’t get a quiet walk without a bunch of rabid Democrats clipping their heels. Nonetheless, they were very gracious and chatted with us. I have been getting a kick out of seeing Hillary do all the recent interviews and testimony with her glasses on, because when we asked them to pose for a picture with us, Hillary took off her glasses!</p>
<p>I saw the President and First Lady at one of the White House Holiday parties in December. We didn’t get a chance to meet them but we were close to them when they spoke. No Bo though. The food and the music was wonderful.</p>

<p>I received a letter from the White House during the Reagan years. The return address simply said: The White House, with no address, city, state or zip.</p>

<p>I saw President Ford in 1975. I was in 8th grade and I am pretty sure he was campaigning in our town. The school let all the kids out early so we could walk into town were he was speaking. I remember seeing him from a distance… i was mostly checking out the secret service on top of the department stores. There is a plaque where he made the speech, so whenever I go shopping downtown, it’s fun to reminisce!
I like to think I saw Clinton pulling away from the White House in a car once…and Obama leaving the White House in a helicopter. When transportation stuff leaves the WH, there is always that possibility that the President might be in there!</p>

<p>One President and Vice P’s. My mom and I saw Spiro Agnew when we were in Washington D.C. on an east coast visit. We were staying at the Watergate during the burglary!!! </p>
<p>Fast forward many years and one of the first stories I covered in college was President Ronald Reagan - he was in town stumping for some Republicans. </p>
<p>I covered Dan Quayle a few times when he would come into town. Best assignment ever as his security detail was the best looking of the bunch. We used to fight over this coveted assignment :)</p>

<p>Well --I have a couple of additional “degrees of separation” events.</p>
<p>Anyone remember Bill O’Reilly’s fixation with “J. Walton Moore” the Dallas CIA agent who was friends with George de Morenschildt the Russian guy who was supposed to have suggested LHO move from Fort Worth to Dallas? Well, he was plain old “Mr. Moore” to me from the time a met him in early 1990s until he died in 2006. </p>
<p>He and his wife Pat were long time family friends of the family of my then soon to be wife. I read a few conspiracy book in the early 1990s and figured out Mr. Moore was “J. Walton Moore.” My wife asked me not to be noisy so I never said anything about JFK/LHO to him. </p>

<p>As a kid growing up in Highland Park, I lived one street over from a family who owned a house that backed up to a double vacant lot where all us kids played. The only son of that family was my older brother’s age and all of us would play there together. I was “kid brother” but got to know him as well. The boy and my brother graduated from HS the same year and I graduated 2 years later. The other kid went on to UT-Austin for law school and then was one of Justice Blackmun’s two law clerks beginning October 1972 through October 1973. </p>
<p>Yep-- helped write Roe v. Wade (1973) My brother was in law school at UT when the guy graduated but was behind due to National Guard training (draft number 120), but they said Dean Keaton sent Blackmun the guy’s con law final (penubras and all) and said – hire him. I went to a party at his house in Dallas in the 1990s but he would only tell personal tales of being with the court never any substantive stuff.</p>
<p>After I graduated from law school in 1985 (second career) I worked on some cases with Linda Coffee who, along with Sarah Weddington, were Roe’s attorney in the suit against Dallas DA Henry Wade.</p>
<p>Well this is two steps removed but… D’s college BF was studying abroad for a semester in China. One day he was at a hotel for some sort of seminar, and when he went to the elevator to leave he suddenly realized the “familiar looking” older gentleman standing next him was former president Carter. So he introduced himself and they had a polite conversation in the elevator.</p>
<p>In high school, I was lab partners with a boy whose father was president of Lebanon. In college, I was lab partners with a boy whose father was president of India. Both countries have PMs who are way more influential internationally. I never met either father, but still think it was an odd coincidence.</p>
<p>For US presidents, I was part of the invited Republican “inner circle” with about 200 others during a Reagan rally in 1984. Nobody really got close to him except for the pols on the stage with him. AF1 landed, they did about 100mph between the airport and the stage, he talked for about 20 minutes, then got back in the limo and was gone. </p>
<p>I didn’t really notice any aura around him, but he did have a very confident way of speaking. To the younger me, he looked like he vaseline on his face and shoe polish in his hair.</p>
<p>So do you remember Bill Clinton’s paramours and accusers Gennifer Flowers, Monica Lewinsky, Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, and Linda Tripp? A few years into Clinton’s first term, a close family member passed away. Attending her memorial service was a family friend-Linda Tripp (NOT Clinton’s Linda). Also attending the memorial service was the new bride of another family friend, Kathleen Willey (she WAS Clinton’s gal). Half expected the National Enquirer to pop out from behind a door.</p>

<p>I saw Clinton during his campaign for re-election. He was doing a whistle stop tour in Michigan. One of my co-workers got tickets and we took 8 of our adolescent psychiatric outpatients to his stop a few blocks from the hospital where I worked.</p>
