I sooo wanted a Selectric typewriter for college but couldn’t afford one but splurged my summer earnings on an a really good regular electric typewriter and then sophomore year they introduced some sort of word processor and I never used the typewriter again. And I think it was a LOT of money.
and yes, I used punch cards too my first year and we learned to draw a diagonal line across the top with a marker so if they got jostled and fell we could put them back In order without too much trouble .

I grew up in a house that for the most part didn’t advance beyond 1950s tech. For example, we had a typewriter, rotary dial phone, and black & white TV during an age where home PCs were common. When I was interested in colleges, my mother encouraged me to type (on typewriter) out letters asking them to postal mail me more information about the college I could review, such as their catalog. The colleges I mailed all replied back to my letters with information, often more than I requested.
I bought a manual typewriter when I was in college and was able to earn a bit of money typing for others. I also typed my honor’s thesis on it. I think I may have sold it for the same $20 I bought it for. Sadly, we don’t have any working typewriters any more. We donated the ones we had because they weren’t working well. My dad had one or two selectrics for his office. I loved the balls you could change for different fonts. The secretary typed my sister’s honor’s thesis or she may never had graduated. I was thousands of miles away and a decent typist so was able to do my own typing.
WordPerfect was an interesting word processing program. I got pretty decent in it and then everyone switched to Microsoft Word instead. It was definitely a learning curve.
Oh….across the top of the pile…yes, I did that. But I still would not have wanted to put a dropped box of cards back in order!

Did anyone else have a CB radio in their car?
We did! Well my parents did. We went on a month long trip around the US staying in every motel 6 and Super 8, or sleeping in the van… And my parents were constantly on it with the truckers.
My dad did! “Breaker 1 9, Breaker 1 9, any smokies ahead?”
My dad had a CB radio. My brother and I loved talking on it during road trips in the 70’s.
H bought a CB radio (it looks like a walkie talkie) for our road trips since we have no cell service on some of our drives through the mountains.
Yes, the CB was right next to the 8-track cassette player. 
I thought for sure you had pink princess phone. 
I had a powder blue princess phone.
I had a princess phone in my (very) pink bedroom (remember those juice-can-size rollers? Yes, I actually slept on those):

The bedframe looks like the French provincial furniture I got in the 70’s. I thought I was so cool when my parents got me the set like below.
Yes, very similar. It had a canopy and pink-ruffled bedding, sorta like this (but my room would only fit the bed, dresser/mirror, and small nightstand):
I was too young for the CB radio craze, but I remember the customized van fad that followed it.
I didn’t have the canopy bed and my room was all powder blue. Blue has always been my favorite color. I did nave a matching desk with the shelf/hutch above it. I loved having a desk in my room to do my homework!
