@rosered55, your comment about your daughter not needing books about death at her young age reminded me of reading to my daughter the story of Swan Lake. The book was a gift, I think it was a “Reading Rainbow” selection. Anyway, so I read her the book, got to the end, and she was DISMAYED. ANGRY. “What?!” she said, outraged. “They DIED? That’s a stupid book. Why did you read me a book where they DIE at the end?” She was maybe 6 or 7 at the time, and to this day her outrage makes me smile. She was never one to hide her opinions.
