What are the advantages and disadvantages of either?

Why did you pick Whitman over the other schools, if any, that you were accepted to?

I am a parent, but I think I can tell you accurately why my S picked Whitman over the 4 UCs he was accepted to, including UC Berkeley. He received merit aid from Whitman, making the price comparable to attending the in-state schools, so cost was not a deciding factor. He liked the smaller size and welcoming feeling of the student community, he wanted the liberal arts focus, and he wanted to get to know his professors. He has been very happy there.
