Parents of the HS Class of 2016 (Part 1)

x#*!!x … the guaranteed full-tuition scholarship for NMF has disappeared from the Drexel University web site. I’ve already emailed someone in the admissions office, but if that’s true, not only is it awful, but it’s awfully unfair (and pretty devious) timing.

I actually checked that it was still listed before our East Coast trip last month, and just now I was able to confirm that it was up by finding a cached version of the web site through google. Yep, there it is, as of Oct. 18, 2015, as clear as can be: “Drexel’s National Merit Finalists Scholarship is offered to incoming freshmen who have reached finalist standing with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The scholarship covers full tuition and is renewable each year that you maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA and full-time status in your undergraduate degree program.”

Now it’s missing. It used to be between the Maguire and Neumann scholarships: http://drexel.edu/drexelcentral/finaid/prospective-students/1617_freshmen_schlp/

If true, this really puts a wrench in our plan. I haven’t even told D16 yet because I’m waiting to hear what the admissions officer says. But it’s definitely not there any more. And all the links referring to it around the web are dead.

Beyond that, if Drexel left that info up while people were researching / planning for the coming year and then pulled it just as applications were filed, that’s pretty galling.

< The only reason I even caught this tonight was because my D16, who has applied and been invited to apply for Honors Program sent along a link about financial aid/scholarships from Drexel. As I watched TV I clicked through mostly out of boredom to see if there was anything else available, only to see the one thing we were counting on was no longer there.>
