~Not able to finish assist.org class. Help!~

I am currently attending a community college in Southern California. I am planning on applying for Cal Poly SLO for Fall 2012. By Spring 2012, I should have all my tranfer classes completed except for 1: Organic Chemistry. At my school, in order to take Organic Chemistry, you must first take General Chemistry. I was planning on taking General Chemistry this semster (Fall) and Organic Chemistry next semester (Spring). However, I was not able to get into General Chemistry this semester, which means I will need to take it next semester, which means it will be too late to take Organic Chemistry before I tranfer. Both classes are listed on the assist.org website for my major (Animal Science).

This kills me because it drastically lowers my chances of getting into SLO. I have a 3.75 GPA, but I understand they want all tranfer classes done before tranferring. What are my chances of getting into SLO? Do I have any chance at all now? Has anyone ever been accepted NOT having the assist.org classes completed?

Hi Kona, I got accepted to SLO as a transfer student in Environmenta Engineering for this Fall after attending community college for three years. I used ASSIST, and I didn't complete about 2-3 of the classes on the list. As far as I know, it is not mandatory to complete all the ASSIST.org classes before you transfer (some of them are only offered at SLO anyway). Yeah, the more classes you finish makes you look better, but really, in my opinion, it is a combination of your GPA and courses finished. Your GPA is pretty high so if you have most of the classes on ASSIST finished, I think you have a good chance of getting in.

*Kona, go to this link provided by Cal Poly, it has vital information about transferring in Animal Science:

Wow, thank you so much! You really put my mind at ease. Makes me feel like I still have a chance! Was your major impacted going in? What was your GPA?

No problem Kona, I know the feeling. My major was impacted and my GPA was 3.66. It was also my 2nd time applying, I got rejected the first time I applied. Let us know how it goes next year!

It's not that big of a deal if you don't finish one of your major prep classes. They care a lot about general ed, you can't even apply if you didn't complete that. But major prep is not as strict. When I transferred, I didn't have like a third of my major prep done and both UC's and CSU's still accepted me
