Hello, I’m an international student who has been waitlisted at Wellesley. I’ve already sent my LOCI and now I’m considering asking my regional counselor my status on the waitlist. I want to know if I have a good chance of getting in. I want to politely ask them this without seeming too pushy or rude. Any advice? Thanks!
Just call and ask, or send an email. They probably get a lot of those calls, and rest assured they won’t consider it rude.
Their most recent common data set doesn’t indicate whether they rank their waitlist, but it does say that only 36 out of 1,245 got in off the waitlist. That means you may hope to get lucky, but you should proceed with your backup plan.
Groundwork2022 thank you!
If they are your first choice school, you should say so. You might also offer to start in the spring semester instead of the fall if that is an option and you are willing to consider doing that.
The one thing that you have to understand about WL is that they are not necessary one big ordered list. Some schools will pick off the WL to re-balance the class. So, they may not be able to say that you are #7 on the list.
