Continue tutoring.
Volunteer jobs unknown.
making movies, playing games, making new friends, oh my!

I'm not an upcoming freshman or anything but I must say, it's nice to see you getting involved right now. Good luck on your highschool years. I'm on my Junior year and I have to say.. Highschool, from what I've experienced, goes super fast. Don't forget to get involved... College look at ECs along with volunteer hours and what not. Once again good luck!

I feel like you if you came back at the end of your sophomore year or beginning of your junior year, this site would help you a lot more.

Just my opinion. Good luck to you in high school!

My first bit of advice is learn how to spell beginner. :P

Make sure you have a lot of fun in high school and meet new people and make new friends. But keep some of your old friends too, because you will likely not have them after high school. Don't be afraid to try new things.

Don't get sucked into the social scene entirely. Study as needed. You'll figure it out pretty quickly. Don't be afraid to ask for help or go to tutoring (please, go to tutoring, the tutors need people to tutor!). Take some time for yourself too. Read a book every now and then. Play a video game. Just sit and think for a while. I personally took up gardening my junior year to get some peaceful, relaxing time to myself (I always need to feel busy or I go stir crazy). Just do something that is for you and no one else.

Volunteer a lot. But not to look good for colleges. Do it because it will make you feel good and allow you to become a part of your community outside of school. It really just enriches your life in so many ways.

Don't join clubs you aren't genuinely interested in. You will just waste your time. Join activities you are passionate about so that you can excel and become a leader.

Most importantly, don't burn yourself out. But remember, its better to burn out than to fade away. So strive to do the very best that you can do, while maintaining your sanity and health. Challenge yourself but learn your limits.

By the time you're a senior, you'll be really glad you didn't just sit at home and waste time throughout high school. It feels really nice.

CC has defs gotten a lot nicer. I remember when I was this younger and I was on CC (although I was mostly on here for Prep School Admissions) people were all like "get the hell off cc!" and at this time we were actually incoming sophomores not incoming freshmen.

    example: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/high-school-life/716917-official-thread-high-school-class-2012-a.html?highlight=class+2012

The reason is simple - over the years cc learned equal opportunity and affirmative action.

Sweet, I'm not the only kid in the class of 2015 on CC!

My brother's really interested in making movies and video editing. He has this program called FinalCutPro which he uses to edit videos and stuff. I think he also has Adobe After Effects, which is also pretty cool. If you're into making movies, definitely get these programs. (They might be a little expensive...)

Also, this month there's this cool program you can do if you're interested in screenwriting. It's called Script Frenzy, and its run by the same people who run the National Novel Writing Month. I'm not doing it, but my friend is. It looks pretty cool and here's the link:Script Frenzy

Good luck next year in HS.

I think it's great that there is a thread dedicated to the class of 2015, especially because I don't think there a lot of incoming freshman on CC!

Here are my courses for next year:

    Honors English
    Honors World Geography
    Spanish 1
Alegbra 1 (I'm supposed to be in Geometry next year, but I'm being forced to retake Algebra)
General Science (I would have liked to take Biology, but in order to do it I would have to be concurrently enrolled in Geometry)

I plan to take Geometry over the summer, and do Algebra 2 in sophmore year.

    Intended Sophmore Year Schedule:
    Honors English
    A.P. World History
    Algebra 2 (Possibly honors?)
    Spanish 2

Then, I would like to take Chemisty over the summer.

    Junior Year:
    Honors English
    A.P. US History
    A.P. Chemistry
    Honors Pre-Calculus
    A.P. Psychology
    Spanish 3

    Senior Year:
    A.P. English 12
A.P. Statistics (I might just take regular statistics, still deciding)
    A.P. Economics
    A.P. Government

I would like to either major in Political Science or Sociology for undergrad, and would eventually like to go to Law school.

    Current ECs:
-Intern for the "Ami Bera for Congress Campaign"
    -Writer for Associated Content
-Vice President of my Christian Youth Group (YPD)
-Memeber of Young Democrats of America
-Tutor for 2 years (I mainly tutored elementary school students)
-Signed with Ford Models in San Francisco and Los Angeles (I know that this is not relevant to my intended major, but modeling is a big part of my life and I would like to continue it during college.)
    -Track and Field
-Intern at a talent management company (LG Management)

Glad to see you guys planning ahead.
Don't underestmiate the power of ECs - they help you when you are too stressed with academic work, have fun, make friends, espeically they let you see the human side of all your efforts. They will also pay off when you apply for colleges.

Hey guys! I too am an incoming freshman, but I do the British curriculum and will next year be in an American school. Anywho, I still have to take my placement tests for math and world languages so dunno what my schedule for next year will be.

    My EC's:
    Editor for school newspaper
Member of Mosaic Stars (Prince of Wales Charity)
Write articles for a Pakistani newspaper
Currently working on my book of poems/short story I wanna send in to the New Yorker/Paris Review
Umm, I'm a prefect at school
I'm doing the Duke of Edinburgh (British version of Boy Scouts, but it's Unisex)

So basically, I'm yet to take a placement test which I have to submit before the 23rd of May. But yeah, CLASS OF 2015 ROCKS!

P.S: Thanks Schmluza for inviting me to the thread!
